We getting the 2nd pick and it would be fitting that tellman and stone are gonna Sam Bowie the **** out of it.
I do admit that the drop from 21 to 23 can hurt us. Two potential players who might pan out to be very good can end up with the Knicks via Dallas and with LAL. Nevertheless, there are still likely to be talented players available at the 23rd and the 24th picks. The drop from the top 4 to 18, can be crushing. The Rockets have to swing for the fences. An intelligent team can dig us out of a difficult situation without interference from the Ferrtita bunch.
Which pain is easier to deal with? Getting the #18 pick? or Getting #1 only to watch yet another thing wasted away under Tilman?
I'll buy some temporary hope that a top pick would give us until tilman begins talks of he is just cutting for one year to get ready for the repeaters tax, and then this role player isn't worth the luxury tax, and hes approved stone to go and spend in the tax in order to get Luka, Giannis, or Ja Morant so he is definitely willing to pay when one of those guys come, don't worry. This year and next year, its draft time. the 23/24 or really anywhere in the first round is still going to have gems. So far stone looks like he has been able to pick out special ones later, so cant discount those. but really getting a top 4 this year and top pick next year gives us a massive boost an the fans a lot to look forward to, the ownership as well with the production and fanfare on rookie deals. We finally all win with the same outcome
That pick simulator is a real kick in the junk. Let me advise anyone who has not visited that site: AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS! It will make you physically ill.
So avoid reality? Honestly whether we absorb a solid kick in the nuts on June 22 or not, this franchise will be awful for at least a few more years. Obviously a top four pick is light years better than 18 but does anyone really think there is a superstar in this years draft? I'm skeptical...an all star maybe but nothing close to a generational type player than can lead to a 'worst to first' scenario. We struck gold with the Harden signing and it may take a similar stroke of luck in the coming years to regain contender status.
Imagine if OKC does get our pick and ends up with the 1st and 2nd or any combo in the top 4. All for trading CP3 for Westbrick. It’d be like the never ending kick in the nuts.
Ok. Sit him all season, say it's for injury management. Whatever. If he complains way too much, play him as a backup for 10 minutes a game. My main point is we need to be accumulating as many assets as possible, as young as possible. If it is a late first round pick that's not as likely to be great. The more of those you have the better. Don't trade away draft picks to save Tilman more money
Those 3 things alone ( size, motor and rebounding) will get him minutes immediately off our bench. Couple that with his post scoring and playmaking potential. He will be playing from day one and probably looking to start before the season is over. The other things will come over time.
