Man this thing escaped from a lab. The Chinese government has a horrible track record of blatant disregard for rules. This kind of hubris comes part and parcel when you have unchallenged authority. Just look at their space debris debacle. The lack of adherence to standards and good practices is blatantly obvious, and it would be no surprise to learn that this would lead to an accident of this magnitude.

Can we stop the left/right blame game over it? The real question is what the rest of the world is going to do about it. The Chinese government has long been a danger to the entire world, from their blatant disregard of the environment, to genocide, and now this.
Good grief can the people of this country have some solidarity on this.

I know for a fact that our team members in Shanghai and Beijing were already in lockdown when planes out of these two cities were still happily being sent all over the world.

So yes, they might have stopped travel out of Wuhan (which is hardly the main international travel hub in China), but they didn't stop travel out of China to the rest of the world for quite a while. Indeed, they pushed other countries to keep things open when they wanted to stop travel from China into their countries:

How can you make this claim with any certainty. When you consider the number of animals in the lab vs the number in the wild that come into contact with humans, it's not likely it would come from a lab. Possible, but not likely - especially given there is yet any direct evidence. We probably will never know the truth.

At the end of the day, labs that do virus research should be under greater scrutiny and accountability in China and all over the world.

As far as I know, Shanghi and Beijing flights and trains (both domestic and international) were never fully cancelled. Some were running at reduced capacity and temperature checks were implemented. A major reason for the large drop off in travel and movement of people is that people were terrified of this unknown virus that caused the government to completely lockdown Hubei. For 2020 Spring festival, 1.21B trips were taken in China by car, 210M by train, and 38M by air. That's a dropoff of 50% from a typical year, but it wasn't a complete shutdown of domestic travel.

Were your co-workers in Shanghi and Beijing completely unallowed to leave their houses? Or that there were more temperature checks when going out and many stores were closed?

US also had a lot of stay at home orders, yet the government never shutdown outbound international travels. Do you ascribe malice to that as well?

Yes. Either he doesn't have a point or is unable to effectively communicate the point he believes that he is expressing.

What does the source of Covid have to do with politics? Don’t understand the connection.
