If you want to be great, you do what it takes to be great. In 1996, West traded a very servicible guy in Divac, for Kobe Bryant and cap space even though they made the playoffs. He did this knowing he could or had a shot at the most dominant young big man and a possible perimeter stud. Now the Lakers could have stood pat with Divac,Campbell,Jones,Van Excel and Horry, but he didn't . He knew that as the Lakers were a playoff team, but not a real threat. This is the same slot the Rockets are in. This team can stay together and be a playoff team, but having Francis/Mobley backcourt will yield playoff entries and quick exits. How long will it take for Houston to make the change. It took Minny 6 yrs to realize that they need tough ,headey players like Cassell and Spreewell. The clock is ticking, N.O. is coming into the division, Phoenix will get a big name free agent and Portland has multiple guys in the last yr of their contract and has tradeable assetts. Will the Rockets sit back and have to battle the lower seeds just to make it or will they make the move and get to the top of the west.
Dont think we or anybody have to worry about new orleans next year. going 41-41 in the east isnt very impressive.
5 years. That long. Steve is in the nba. He still commits the same mistakes again and again and again. It gets too tiring and frustrating. I just cant afford to watch another year of inconsistent, turn over prone, dumb ass dribbling backcourt. We need change and we must change now. We have yao and its enough building block to build our team.
I for one am so sick and tired of Steve Francis threads, pro or con. Really, who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he stays great, if he goes great.....let's just put an end to this redundant topic.
If the Rox dont move SF, his value probably would go down since his salary will go up significantly each year, then he'll become unmoveable, or at least hard to move.
I also try not to mispell words, but I just can't help it. It's Murphy's Law, when you try to be cute, you screw up.
