Here's mine... After Clippers lose in the first round, Kawhi sees the writing on the wall with little cap space and no pics that the Clippers are a dead end... He forces a trade to the Warriors and opts in to his player option... Clippers take Wiggins, Wiseman, and the Timberwolves pick if not top 3.... Warriors try to run back the old team with Kawhi replacing Durant...
The league needs to set strong punishment against players not honouring their contracts. This players forcing out thing is giving big market teams too much advantage.
I don't at all disagree with you on this .... It sucks to be the team that loses a superstar while he has multiple years left on his deal. Hell it sucks if they play out the contract and sign somewhere else ... and that is the crux of the problem. The team has no leverage once that contract does expire and the threat of the superstar walking away for no compensation is real. The NBA needs something similar to the NFL franchise tag but way less punitive to keep stars in place. They already have the supermax contract that gives those special players 35% of the total cap allowance .... but they get that and then force their way out - one solution would be to add a clause to those supermaxes that if the player is traded there is a negative trade kicker that reduces the figure to a normal max .... You give the player a veto option on that trade. Essentially you can demand a trade but its going to cost you money.
Houston not mentioned once so here's my crazy prediction: This gets moved from the GARM to NBA Action. I'd put money on my prediction. Yours, while possible, is not worth my money being put down on that line.
a smart and benevolent Houstonian develops an algorithm that removes all guesswork out of the draft & exorcises Fertittas.
Harden wins a championship with the Nets then forces his way back to us (using Wall & 1 of the Nets picks) then wins 3 more championships with us. The combination of Harden, Porter, Cade is the new NBA golden standard. Olynyk, Tate, Martin, Brooks all become all-stars along the way. Harden reworks his contract so all can stay Rockets.
Jeff Bezos offers Tilly 4Billion for the Rockets! Fertttits gets up off the floor and quickly accepts the offer promising to “Shut Up and Listen”... Rockets go on a decade long uninterrupted Championship run...followed by another decade long uninterrupted Championship run... Rockets fans live happily ever after!!! Spoiler Did I do this right?!? ....... ....... .......
kawhi isnt leaving the clippers because he really doesnt care that much about winning NBA titles. He could already have a second or third one if he stayed in Toronto and be the KING of canada.
