Working in sales I’ve seen a ton of the software programs we use only be available on iOS. It’s not as bad now as it was 4 years ago though.

Age is a big qualifer for the answers to this. The Gen Z and younger use their phones for...well...everything.

I use my phone as a phone, email app, camera, weather app, and some basic personal stuff. No gaming. I have a gaming computer for that. No intensive work processes. I have a work computer. My brother in law is in his 20s. He thinks it's crazy that i have a gaming computer. He plays games on his phone. He is doing video chats/snapchat/tiktok/etc. with his friends and wife all day long.

This thread inspired me to just replace my iPhone 10 screen and battery (using sketch non-Apple folks) instead of considering an “upgrade.”

I'm Gen Z and use my phone for the stuff mentioned but I don't game.

Still would rather use my laptop for most stuff.

Using a Z to spell Boomerz does not make you Gen Z (fyi).

Gen Alpha is next; soon gen Z will feel out of touch.

I use MacBook pros, but not in the Apple ecosystem; it's fine.

iOS and Android users make love. Everybody loves everybody!

The latest phones have caught up to last gen consoles, you might not always see the quality because games have to make it compatable with older phones and the heat/energy would melt the phone or battery down after some time.

There's also choices to stream with Xbox game pass, geforce now or stadia.

I'd still buy a gaming computer if I had time to play on it.

Uh we could always just buy the cheap ones

50 dollar phones do everything you need for a casual personal phone, 200-300 dollar phones are legitimately nice. I got a IPhone SE no contract in 2018 for 200, and for the 10 years before that I juggled 30-70 dollar phones

Amen. I'm the same way, except that work doesn't enter into it and hasn't for a while, being retired. The main thing we enjoy these days is traveling, which has made the last year-plus very frustrating.

Ha I wish I was that cool.

No, I have a lot of legal work on my phone that cannot be compromised. Also all of the firms banking information and then there are pictures of people that would be very upset if they get out. I am especially paranoid because we have been hacked before.

    This.

For many people the cheap phones work well. You can still get access to e-mail, the internet, text messaging and they have okay cameras.
