They are an opportunistic team. The way to beat them is to limit their opportunities. We gave them too many yesterday.

Need to save him for a possible save opportunity.

If Pressly came in and pitched a shutout in the 9th, then Astros score one at the top of the 10th. Who do you bring in at the bottom of the 10th to close the game? Keep in mind Paredes, Stanek, Scrubb, and Abreu have already been used. Sure, you can bring in Pressly again to pitch the 10th, but that pretty much makes him unavailable for the next two games.

The problem is we don't have great options in the pen right now, plain & simple. We're asking Dusty to win these close games in the end holding 2-7 offsuit.

Any guys in the minors that can come up and take out these bums we have in the bullpen?

I looked at all of the pitches by the relievers (on both teams) on baseballsavant.

The Astros relievers got screwed on three pitches.
    1. Stanek's fastball hits the bottom of the zone against Laureano, should have been 1-1 count. Instead it's 2-0 and Laureano eventually walks and scores a run.
    2. Stanek's slider at the top of the zone. Should have been strike 3 to Chapman, but he eventually hits an RBI double.
    3. Abreu's slider at the top of the zone that walked Cahna. Should have been a full-count, but Cahna walks and eventually scores the game winning run.
On the A's side, they got screwed on ZERO pitches. In fact, they were gifted two strikes by Petit against Brantley and Castro. Astros did NOT receive any similar gifts of balls being called strikes.

I'm also only counting pitches that are majority in or out of the zone. I'm not counting balls that just barely touch the zone (which are technically strikes).

Yup, there's two guys currently in AAA that will help alot. Framber Valdez and Jake Odorizzi. Hopefully their rehab starts go well and they re-join the rotation soon. That should push guys like Javier, Urquidy, or Garcia into the pen.

Didn't Odorizzi suck when he was up here? Or was that due to injury?

maybe just talk about the game instead of worrying about what everyone else posts. For the last few years you have been very aggressive with your tired “unless it doesnt” or “until it doesn’t “ posts, and constant bickering about other peoples posts. Im sorry if your feelings get hurt when people predict bad things for the Astros. I love how you are always ready to pounce after the fact too. Make a prediction about the Astros once in a while, you might find it fun. You seem to be the only one who takes these things seriously. You seem to forget that we all want them to win. You just get mad that people don’t post like you would prefer them to. Just get over that. In the meantime, I will post whatever I want.

I agree with you in principle, but quoting a man that committed suicide might not be the best source for advice.

They’re going to leave two men on every inning again, aren’t they?

    Rangers no-hit again @ home

That's six total this season. The modern record is 7.

Still 4 months remaining this year
