Guns and Drugs are obtained illegally

That's why we need the police

if there was no police and just some Art History dropout walks up to a gang member and tells them to stop selling drugs and shooting people,

that wouldn't work, they would get shot or beaten like a bean bag

 

Well I agree we should keep up the effort combating domestic violence regardless of the gun laws. It's good unto itself and will probably have more concrete gains too.

Doesn't mean I'm just going to lay off of our ridiculous decision to have everyone run around with guns. It's dumb and dangerous in myriad ways. The impact on make domestic violence deadlier is just one of a legion of bad side effects.

 

One reason people are buying guns is because they feel unsafe. Probably not a good idea to decrease law enforcement.
That's just one reason.
Some people love guns. It's just part of the culture.
