necro bump File this under ... the all and powerful, world's greatest businessman ... 'Monumental miscalculation': Trump cost himself a fortune by refusing to divest when he became president Even though former President Donald Trump tried to enrich himself at taxpayers' expense during his tenure with frequent trips to his own golf clubs, those apparently weren't enough to make up for the massive losses he incurred during his four years in the White House. Forbes reports that Trump made a "monumental miscalculation" when he refused to take ethicists' advice by divesting his assets upon assuming the presidency in 2017. "From the time he entered the White House in January 2017 to his departure a few months ago, Donald Trump's fortune fell by nearly a third, from $3.5 billion to $2.4 billion," Forbes writes. "If he had sold everything on Day 1, paid the maximum capital-gains taxes on the sales, then put the proceeds into a conflict-free fund tracking the S&P 500, Trump would have ended his presidency an estimated $1.6 billion richer than he is today." The publication then runs down the plethora of Trump properties that crashed in value while he was in the White House, headlined by 6 East 57th Street in Manhattan, which saw its net value plunge by a whopping $217 million over the last four years. The value of Trump's hotel management and licensing brand also crashed by $163 million during his presidency, and real estate analyst Kevin Brown tells Forbes that the former president "has done permanent damage to the Trump name and image, at least for two or three decades."
So to fit with the thread, the question is: WTF did Trump go on a multi-year campaign to destroy his worldwide brand and cost hisself a billion dollars? Answer: because he just loves America.
Failed Trump campaign's $200,000 bill for rally in NM now at collection agency Ex-president Donald Trump pulled one of his usual moves when he held a rally in Albuquerque, NM in 2019 – he stiffed the city with a whopping bill of $200,000. Staying in a downtown hotel, Trump's high bill included security costs, such as "blocking off parts of downtown, paying police officers overtime and covering the paid time off expenses of city workers who had to stay home," according to KOB4. After many attempts to collect what was owed to them, a collection agency is now on the case.
You think that's bad, the biggest loser is Palm Beach County. They'll be stuck spending money on security costs for Trump for the rest of his life and now he doesn't have the option of raiding FEMA funds to pay them back.
That's been his business m.o. his whole life - stiffing contractors, etc. Not sure why anyone would give him unsecured credit for anything and then be surprised when he won't pay up.
Right! Grifters gonna grift. If he asked I'd gladly buy him a one way ticket to Moscow, but I'd never in a Million years expect he would pay me back
Donald Trump’s ‘social media platform’ has launched and it’s just a blog 4D chess at its best. A casual observer would think that Trump, the great deal maker, could not create a new Trump center social media empire using OPM, but they would be missing the sheer genius. For $36/year, Trump will rule the world.
Sounds like Trump figured out what @Clutch figured out back in the 90's. A place where "followers can communicate directly" sounds a whole lot like tagging, and commenting on an online forum. Trump could have just started his own Redditt page and saved himself a whole lot of trouble.
Seems to me like the point is to write twitter-length posts that Trump-bots will port onto Twitter so that Trump can have a sort of spectral presence on Twitter instead of running his own ecosystem. Not the best choice if he wanted to build his own social media empire, but probably smart if he wants to run for president again and he needs to convince the unengaged voter.
You should buy the domain. . i bet @Clutch for a fair price would setup a WordPress page there for you

Via the Washington Post: Facebook’s Oversight Board on Wednesday upheld the social network’s decision to ban former president Trump four months after Capitol riot, but also gave Facebook six months to review the decision. Facebook banned Trump indefinitely following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, citing posts that it said encouraged violence. The binding ruling by the 20-member Oversight Board, which is largely independent and funded by the social network, could set the stage for a new political era online, reshaping the way speech by public officials and other powerful people is moderated by social media companies. [...] Critics have argued that Facebook should have banned Trump at different points throughout his presidency, saying that his inflammatory language and frequent promotion of misinformation — about the coronavirus in particular — constituted an abuse of his office and of Facebook’s own community standards. But chief executive Mark Zuckerberg felt strongly that politicians should be given wide latitude because their speech was in the public interest.
I am surprised that https://www.donaldjtrump.com/desk does not have ads on the side for all of the Trump branded properties. Must be a slight oversight on his part.
