I don't mind Patrick. Judging by his likes on Twitter, I think we could do way worse.

I don't think anyone has a personal issue with Patrick. In the new age, makes sense to engage in twitter. It would be nice to have a reputed steady hand, a familiar face, even a newer guy like Battier with houston ties and Heat Experience. Balmer bought in Jerry West, as did warriors before, paid glowingly while he golfed half the time to change the culture, bring in a steady hand for everyone in the organization as well a the fan that you will spend, even where it doesn't make headlines. After an embarssing burn down for 3 years, it isn't exactly a great visual to bring in your kid who is so young as the absolute official head, in any case as you said, we're scraping at the bottom of the barrel, a lot of the argument for much of tillman is 'if we could do worse'. That isn't what we expect in clutch city.

Everyones still on the culmination of bad taste of tillman spending 90 percent of our moves to cut cost, while telling us things like:

“Last year (getting under the luxury tax) was a fluke. We were going to be in the (tax). It was an accident. I’m still trying to figure out how we got under. I was positive we were going to be in it by $11 million. But if I’m in the luxury tax, I expect us to win.”
-He also brags about his detailed business acumen, how do you accidentally trade out a first round pick?

“That’s the stupidest thing I ever heard. I spend more money on little things than anybody else. I just bought us a brand-new 767 that we’re re-fitting right now. Everybody else just rents planes. I want our players on our plane. And it’s not a 757; it’s a 767.”

All while blaming everyone he can, pointing fingers, misleading the public, taking the mike and putting his foot in his mouth, over and over again
    -https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26987545/there-too-much-damn-turmoil-unsettling-vibe-surrounds-rockets

And now a once very respected franchise with a generational talent who was very invested in the local scene is now the laughing stock and literally the worst team in the league. 3 years of his ownership we've seen bullshit to anyone who still eats out of his ass who will still have the 'shut up and listen' mentality.

We already knew that Daryl had to run everything through patrick, another odd industry standard, how many GM's at the top level are running through things to a 25 year old owners son? IT is not issue with Patrick, its how Tilman himself has run this place like a Landrys. A good enough entertainment draw(a star, who pays for itself), then skimping on every marging, watering the drinks(Cutting vital role players, no replacements, staff, hurting the culture) all the while then taking the mike and saying :

"I'm a fighter," said Fertitta, who has owned the franchise for two seasons. "That's my culture, and I think the longer that I own this team, they're going to pick up more of my culture. We had [the Warriors]. We should have stepped on their throat the other night and cut their throat. It's not, 'Let's make a few shots and win.' It's step on their throat and let's take it back to Houston and end it in six. We'll pick up a few Tilman-isms along the way in the next few years."

Imagine watering down a team that made the finals, literally replacing Ariza that year with James Ennis on a minimum, ignoring MLE, IGnoring tpe, trading picks 1/2nd to get under the tax, then Cutting Ennis that same season while playing for a top 55 protected 2nd, then cutting house for 2 months mid season till it was tax friendly.....then taking the mike after a playoff series for a warriors team that runs the exact oppositely continuing to build cost, brand, culture after previously being the laughing stock(we did the opposite), then telling a noted fiesty chris paul that you are going to teach them your killer culture, basically demanding better results with a worse product.

I'll go wait as you look up how common it is an owner to talk like this and try to be the face of the league, plaster himself all over TC, WHILE not backing it up as the owners main thing is to provide finances when you're in contention.

Futher more, after that circus act where we once again ignored bird rights in 2019:
I was in Europe, and so I was six or seven hours ahead of them. So I’m talking at 2, 3, 4 in the morning. And we just decided to do it. They ran different statistics by me.

My basketball ops [operations] got maybe a little weak at the end, and I just said, ‘We’re doing this. We are going to make the change. We’re going to go after it and roll the dice. We’re going to find that 5 percent.’

The one thing I believe you do in business, and you do in basketball, is you never sit still. You always keep it exciting."

How much Patrick has to do with all of this, if he was in the european Yatch on that fateful night, is all in question.
But its hard to have faith in Tilman, I'm hoping they have a little more self awareness not to give the official title to save some money, but we have everyone who had clout and reputation in this league gone from our franchise, often leaving money on the table to leave and 'be with families' aka diplomatically and professionally run the F away from Fertitta

So the outrage is on the top, that we continue to make moves that make us a laughing stock rather than a serious team. At this point, we are at the bottom of the barrel, we aren't cheering for anything this year, and evryone who pays to goto games, puts energy and time in to the rockets, loves the rockets is wondering how we fell off this clip.

Patrick will have power and say anyways judging by the moves above him and his dad called the shots over any seasoned vets that made morey turn into a luxury tax saving gymnast the last 3 years. It isn't a good luck, hes 25, I'm sure he is a good smart kid who has learned a lot from Tad brown and Morey, he will probably take over this team unless tilman switches to the NFL or has a sterling moment or continues to get debt and not b able to handle it, but all of that is doubtful.

We're in an ok position to rebuild, especially if we get this pick, but this is a competitive league and the sharks are swimming around us and they are simply laughing. Frankly, this isn't about Patrick, but Rockets have deserved better especially no less from a Houstonian Tilman. Absolute disappointment. But if they continue to be flagrantly entitled and unaware, its not the worst thing. I'd rather have Patrick have final say than tilman, I'd rather have clutch the ****ing bear have a final say rather than tilman given both their track records, at least clutch is sort of likeable.

In any case, we have a new rebuild on our horizon. Some great young fellas, a likeable coach, a smart new gm, all young fellas but something to build upon. In 2 years itll be time to pay wood, KPJ so these savings are not going to last. Hopefully the suits don't screw it up for us fans this time, hopefully he heeds his own advice and shuts up and listens, or if he can't handle the heat of the new par and revenue and spending growing in the nba, he should get out of the kttchen and do his hometown a favor.

I'm all Houston, no matter what, that would be one special day. I will donate 100 to the tip jar the day tilman sells the team if i'm still around. It would be sterling level joy, It'd be like winning a chip. But then again, I was all excited when Les sold to him, finally got a local owner...and the rest is history:/ But can't get worse than what we were. Warriors inherited a joke of a franchise, no one wanted to go there. They spent, made strong decisions, and even now they don't have a chance at a ring, but they have a generational talent, have a crowd who pays premium, and you have our owner retweeting their tax bill when hes worth 5 times as much and lets everyone know. They spent, are thinking of branding, culture, long term attraction to how we view the idea of Golden State while we went from a place Nba players love, a solid franchise, a generational talent, and did the opposite chased away a President, GM, ass Gm, HC, associate hc, two stars, vets...basically anyone with clout and were left with young playesr and rookie staff and are now a laughing stock around the league. Tilman pulled a reverse warriors.

I'm sorry my man, I'm down with anyone whose upto put up a bill board or start a chant in TC #GobothertheSaintsinstead
He has a Louisiana casino, he has stated he likes the rockets but the 'nfl is the nfl'
Man what a day that would be. Cmon fertittas, conquer your next big thing, you already Landry'd the hell out of the rockets, goto the Saints

There are other NFL teams he can bother. The first thing he would do is run off Payton

That would look good in a Saints jersey, especially the view from houston. He's got a casino there, he doesn't have to fly far. This just gave me that 'extra 5 percent' of hope I needed today.

I am no Fertittas fan and have my share of sarcastic Tilman jokes. But if Clutch says all he has heard about Patrick is nothing but great things, who am I to disagree?

Like literally half or more of the league is run by owner sons, or owners who inherited their team - it's the American dream in action.

fair enough, we're on a message board though and you're logged on and posting. its a couple minute read, even bolded with colors for the ADD in all of us since it was a response to you, but of course no worries. We're all just horsing around here as our team isn't competing, but i do wish i had a clever goofy meme pictures to sum it up better for message board speak. i'll work on that one;) GoRockets

Whether this rumor is true or not, it's actually pretty interesting to see how much the current situation for the Rockets is mirroring the last time that a billionaire put his son in charge of his NBA team.

Does this resume look kinda familiar? 30 years old, assumes the mantle of CEO/President after his father is required to divert his attention elsewhere, and the team immediately makes the playoffs for 3 consecutive years before disappointing in the postseason each time. After the third year, in one offseason, manages to lose both a former COY and Executive of the Year, and the team plummets in the standings, missing the playoffs for five more years after that.

Amazingly, despite the long playoff drought, both the GM/Executive VP and the Head Coach were retained throughout the majority of the process, and the team has stormed back to being a darkhorse contender despite fighting numerous untimely injuries.

And now, at 40 years old, that nepotism hire is arguably one of the 5 most influential people in all of professional sports (though most, especially European soccer fans, would probably argue that he and his father are a part of the biggest evil alliance since the Axis Powers marched into Poland).

    https://www.nba.com/news/unassuming-josh-kroenke-could-become-influential-sports-owner

No matter who is hired, I'm willing to give them a clean slate and judge them based on their actions, not on how they got the job. Because if he sucks at the role, or the cost cutting continues, then there will be plenty of time to hate on the move later. No reason to waste all that quality outrage, fan hate and "this is fine" meming now. There's potentially 30+ years of being a non-contender upcoming; can't blow it all after just one season as the worst team in the league with no pick in the lottery...

I agree, we don't know what we got. But his father's first 3 years were abysmal and not a sense of humility has been shown, thats a bad sign. The Kroenke is a special case. He played college ball, legitimately, not a star, but got minutes in d1. Anyone play at that level? It is not easy, its a full time job with a lot of talent and takes a lot of work and determination, humility, you learn a lot through that and its very impressive for someone comfortable to go through it for the game.

but that the hope, as he mentioned that there will be mistakes. That they realize the 90 percent of cost cutting during the contention years is not going to work Kroenke says it himself, he made mistakes and he learned a lot from his mistakes. We haven't seen anyone from this ownership talk in that way, its been blame, deflect, and make excuses to anyone whose still buying it. So I do believe in reform, I am delusionally hopeful, and I hope they learn and be great owners, we build a great franchise and then we never have to worry about owners an just focus on the Rockets as a whole, so in that context. I hope he turns out to be great, i hope he gets rings. I'm still being objective bc there is a major tone difference from the kroenke situation and this, but i'm not moving to denver. I hope rockets learn and win.
