I'd have thought he'd lay low. This strategy only works if Trump wins in November. If Trump loses and he has no benefactor, the SEALs will have no desire to keep a troublemaker around. He could have spent this time mending fences. Of course, Trump said he wanted his pardoned war criminals to campaign for him, so maybe he has no choice.

Top Navy SEAL commander resigns after apparent disagreements with Trump

Special Warfare Rear Adm. Collin Green, the US Navy admiral responsible for the service's special-operations forces, will step down from his position in September, The Intercept reported over the weekend. Green, the commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1986 and completed the Navy SEAL Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL course two years later. He served in SEAL Teams 2, 3, and 5 and in senior roles for NATO's Special Operations command and US Central Command. His retirement follows the controversial court-martial of Special Warfare Operator Chief Eddie Gallagher. Green moved to withdraw Gallagher's Trident pin, which signifies his membership in the Navy SEAL community.

Green in November ordered a peer evaluation of Gallagher, who had been demoted and charged with war crimes, including the murder of an ISIS prisoner of war and the shooting of two people in Iraq in 2017. Gallagher was acquitted of those counts but convicted of a lesser charge of posing for a picture with the dead ISIS fighter. However, President Donald Trump intervened in the Navy's judicial system to free Gallagher from pretrial detention and restore his rank after the conviction. Trump said that he was "sticking up for our armed forces" and that "there's never been a president that's going to stick up for them, and has, like I have." The apparent disagreement between Green and the White House fueled the controversy in the Gallagher case.

The incident led to other resignations by Navy leaders. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer was forced to resign after expressing disagreement with Trump's actions. According to a New York Times report, Spencer and Green threatened to resign if Trump intervened on Gallagher's behalf.

After his ouster in November, Spencer told CBS News that he did not believe Trump "really understands the full definition of a warfighter."
"What message does that send to the troops?" said Spencer, a former Marine officer. "That you can get away with things. We have to have good order and discipline. It's the backbone of what we do, and the Trident review process with the senior enlisted reviewing fellow senior enlisted is critical. "The senior enlisted of our military are the backbone of our military," Spencer added. "They are the girder of good order and discipline. They can handle this. They can handle this in each one of their communities."

Nearly two years after being found not guilty of killing an unarmed ISIS fighter, retired Navy SEAL Chief Eddie Gallagher has made an earth-shattering admission: Neither he nor any of the other SEALs on the scene tried to save the wounded fighter’s life. “The grain of truth in the whole thing is that that ISIS fighter was killed by us, and that nobody at that time had a problem with it,” Gallagher said during an interview for the finale of “The Line” podcast, which aired on Tuesday. The case became tumultuous for both the special operations community and the Navy as Trump took a greater involvement. After Gallagher was convicted of posing with the ISIS fighter’s corpse and demoted, Trump restored Gallagher’s rank. The former president also ordered the Navy to revoke medals that had been awarded to the prosecutors in the case and he became personally involved when the Navy tried to take away Gallagher’s SEAL trident, ultimately leading then-Navy Secretary Richard Spencer to be fired.

While the circumstances of the ISIS fighter’s death have always been hotly contested, a consistent part of the narrative has been that the SEALs provided medical care to the young fighter. Now, Gallagher has told “The Line” that the SEALs were not tending to the fighter’s injuries; rather, they decided to conduct “medical treatment on him until he’s gone.” “I mean, he was going to die, regardless,” Gallagher said. “We weren’t taking any prisoners.”

He also claimed that every member of his platoon, including one SEAL who later reportedly described Gallagher as “evil” to investigators, all agreed to torture the ISIS fighter to death. “Everybody knew what was going on,” Gallagher said. “It’s the only truthful thing to this whole process; and then the rest of it just is like a bunch of contorted lies to, like, pin that whole scenario on me.” “I didn’t stab him,” Gallagher continued. “I didn’t stab that dude. That dude died from all the medical treatments that were done – and there was plenty of medical treatments that were done to him.”
When asked why he cut an emergency airway in the ISIS fighter’s throat, Gallagher replied: “Just for practice. I was practicing to see how fast I could do one in.”

At the very least Trump intervening the Navy from demoting his rank when people I know had their rank demoted for unauthorized absence for being 2 days late from leave while this psyocpath created an international media incident shows how extreme the Trump base is.

Like his base couldn't even handle this psyocpath merely getting his rank demoted let alone being charged with murder. That's how extreme these people are.
