At least he's playing with the franchise instead of chickening out like Harden. Giannis has a monster squad already. Jokic has a pretty good team around him as well (much respect to Joker if he were to win it I would be ok with it). All things considered 9th 40 point game this year (consider Curry's age and mileage and long playoff runs), 6th in his last 15 games. No. 1 pick missing, Oubre missing, Draymond pretty good, rest of the squad is wack let's be honest.
it's like the league made a pact the last 4 or 5 weeks to just let curry get up as many 3's as possible. how do you let him shoot 18 3's without klay and durant around? this stretch has certainly been annoying. of course somehow GS still has like the 22nd ranked offense and 6th ranked defense. steph has weirdly never had a top 10 offense outside of the obvious 5 year stretch after kerr got there.
Yeah, this thread is hilarious, but let's be fair to Curry. He is 33 and still balling. Do you guys remember when he was drafted? Skinny kid who looked like he was going to break - and in fact he did break early in his career. Seriously, did anybody here think that he'd last this long?
curry has had stacked rosters his whole career. Curry is going through this year what harden went through his entire Houston tenure sans 2018. And he’s still not elevating the warriors where they should be given that rosters talent level. I’m not impressed by one hot shooting month. Harden did that for years and it was never hyped like how they are currently hyping curry. In fact the nba media looked for reasons not give harden player of the month or player of the week awards if curry had hardens 2019 season he would be mvp no questions asked. We gotta change who votes on awards. Colorism is alive and well when it comes to the nba media. Let’s give a percentage of votes to the players, coaches, and front office people watch the nba media leave harden off an all nba team because of games missed, but they had no problem putting steph curry on the 2018 all nba team over cp3 despite not playing the required amount of minutes to make his season official. Also the rockets had the best record in the league that year and cp3 was top 5 in rpm. Cp3 should have made that all nba team over curry
it’s not hilarious, the refs have been helping the warriors lately. I watch all of their games. And teams have to overcome the refs swallowing their whistles to beat warriors most nights despite curry going off. Which then leads to the opposing team complaining and then the warriors going on a run. The league is allowing the warriors to get away with stuff on lesser teams so they don’t go in the play in as the 10th seed
It's a team game. 5 years is a long time. Curry still obviously lifts his current team's offense by a lot.
yeah that was pretty unfair for Paul, but it was OKC PG13 who beat out Chris. They both had 54 points. Curry had 164, almost making the 2nd team.
4. Stephen Curry Team: Warriors (33-32) | Position: Guard 31.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.2 steals, 60.9 eFG%, 3.2 net rating, 56 GP O’Connor: Despite having the worst supporting cast since Golden State’s run began, Steph is producing comparably to his unanimous MVP season in 2015-16. We are entering a turning point of Curry’s career. An identity crisis looms for the Warriors; James Wiseman has struggled as a rookie, Draymond Green lost his jumper, and Klay Thompson’s future is uncertain following two straight missed seasons. Steph is 33, and the competition in the West is steeper than it’s been … maybe ever. But Curry has proved to still be one of the few talents who can single-handedly lead his team to the playoffs. With a little more help, the Warriors could soon be back in the championship conversation. By the numbers: Among all player-seasons in NBA history with at least a 30 percent usage rate and 1,000 minutes played, the three best true shooting percentages are, in order: Curry in 2018, Curry in 2016, and now Curry in 2021. https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/5/4/22416337/top-25-nba-player-ranking-lebron-james-nikola-jokic Spoiler 25. they just can't let steph go. dude gets his team to the 23rd ranked offense and a 0.500 record and they're acting like he's the mvp. the team harden leaves turns in one of the great unexpected tank jobs of all time and the team he goes to acts like kevin durant being injured is a good thing and practically never loses. steph has been behind harden since minimum the 2018-2019 season and now he gets to jump back over with this season? and embiid gotta do something more in the east to be that high.
its unbelievable harden averaged 29/7/6 in 2016 led all sg's in PER, and win shares. basically what curry is averaging now. and didnt even make an all-nba team. And here they are still talking about curry for mvp despite the fact that warriors have been a .500 to sub .500 team this entire year. This curry worship has to stop, also harden was able to create historic team offensive ratings no matter what kind of talent was around him. The warriors tem offensive rating this year is averge, they are winning mostly because of their defense
Forget about Curry’s ranking. The telling thing is a triple double player didnt even break into Top 25. Nice how triple doubles dont mean anything now. and WB is closing the season leading a 13-3 push to the playoffs. While Curry’s is 11-8, with losses to MIN, NOP and twice to Westbrook.
I think the Warriors with CP3 are in Rocket territory. And CP3 would have murdered Wiggins and Oubre already. Phoenix with Curry... probably same place where they are now.
Christ, man, can't we worship both, as fans of the game? I haven't watched most Warriors games, but based on the few I saw and also looking at the stats, Steph is balling. He is not just scoring a lot, but he is a very efficient scorer, and it's the other guys who are extremely inefficient and dragging the team down. I don't think he can carry his team to the extent James can, but he can carry a team. I don't think the Warriors have won even one game when he sits, that's how much of a different he makes. The difference is that James is stronger and more durable, and because of his style of play he will control the game more than Curry does. So, I would speculate that he could take this horrible Warriors team and do better with it than Curry has. But that's not a knock on Curry. Just because James has been disrespected unfairly, we shouldn't turn around and disrespect Curry. Dude is not MVP because his team sucks, but he's playing amazing this season, we should recognize that.
Actually, they did win one game without him, against Memphis. The Warriors' record without Curry this season is 1-7 with an average point differential of -19. It's a small sample size. But that winning percentage and point differential are much worse than what the Rockets have been doing after the Harden trade. Yet some people still claim that Curry has good talents around him and it's his fault that they are not doing better.
LOL! Draymond's game helps Curry, no doubt, but other than that... Wiggins has been recognized around the league as a bust, and Oubre is not a starter on a decent team, I think he was a starter just one season for a non-playoff team. Looney is serviceable, but probably at best a sub on a decent team. Wiseman is a long term project. The others are all scrubs. I still think Harden would have done better with this team, but Curry has done amazingly well, all things considered.
