Wall is the only untouchable. The tank commander must stay to ensure we don’t stray from the light. FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!!
Yea Wood, and Porter to a lesser extent, are the Rockets “big value” pieces. In other words they have nothing lol
Ideally you trade away Wall with the motive of giving the ball to KPJ and let him learn. He has to have the reps to learn, and when Wall is on the court he hinders that. So, if you can move Wall for another position player even if it is a bad contract, you do it just to clear the runway for KPJ. Moving Gordon would also be good. He doesn't fit the timeline. But at least he can play with KPJ. House has 1 more year on his deal and will be a UFA. So consider that. You might want to move him for an asset. He likely will return a better asset this summer than at the Trade Deadline on a short rental.
Anyone who can get a return that's better than their fit on the Rockets should always be available to be traded. So, if it works out that way, trade everyone.
Wall and gordon are negative contracts. they would require us to attach assets to get rid of them. we're in asset collection mode, so I don't think they go anywhere. house, Augustine, and Bradley aren't worth anything back in trade. they are only worth anything to contending teams, and those teams usually get similar talent on the buyout market without giving up a second round pick. the rockets options here are to shop for a SRP or buyout. and we know Tilman can't afford a buyout. wood I think is worth more to us than any other team. he probably stays for the duration of his contract. however the interesting question is whether or not he chooses to resign here. he'll hit FA at 27-28 years old. and we would've tanked for our own '22 and '23 picks. so his duration here would be all tanking. and he'll be old enough to not want to wait for the 18-19 year olds we just drafted to develop. I think he'll want out during the last year of his contract and that's when he gets traded to a playoff team. Next year I expect us to have a roster of: Wood Tate-KJ KPJ-House Gordon-bradley-jeffries Wall-augustin However I would not draft by need. the rockets need talent and should draft whoever they think has the highest upside regardless of position. if its a PG like Suggs then wall can mentor him for the next 2 years. if its a scorer like green then KPJ can share the ball with him as a 1-2 punch. and if the pick is Mobley then either wood adjusts to playing off of him or he can be traded to make mobley the focal point.
If the Rockets land a top 4 pick, you find a way to dump Wall, even if it costs you one of the Nets' picks. If you find a way to dump Gordon without giving up anything, you do that too.
Frankly - the same logic extends to buying him out next year if no market evolves. Just get him out of the way. The contract is what you are obligated too. Not the player.
If we get Cade, I don't care how many draft picks it take, we trade Wall. He's too g to hinder Cade and KPJ's development. Only one ball.
Exactly. If you trade Wood...are you then building around Wall? And how does HE fit into that timeline?
Maybe the Clippers will get them for Kennard,Beverley, Rondo+ min.salary filler. They need a guard, and is a friend of Paul George. Then you can wave Rondo, keep Beverley and Kennard
