Skimming some of the numbers this morning and I noticed Pressly has a high WHIP relative to all his peripherals. Turns out he's generating a lot of ground balls so far... a lot. He must be really staying on top of his breaking stuff. 4 fly balls total, and a negative launch angle.
Not the details, but I like these stats for an overview of how pitchers are pitching. ERA: # runs scoring while pitching xERA: Ks, BBs, Quality of Contact (xwOBA put on ERA scale) FIP: Ks, BBs, HRs xFIP: Ks, BBs, estimated HRs on FB% Notable notes: Javier basically isn't allowing runs, is getting Ks, isn't walking guys much is relation to Ks, isn't giving up homers at rate estimated by FB% or Quality of Contact. Pressly is basically the same. Garcia: Limiting good contact, but he's not not putting away guys as much with Ks as his stuff and swinging strike rate imply (i.e., he's got MLB stuff, but still is really raw). Taylor before he was hurt, had bad K and BB numbers, was limiting quality of contact on non-homers, gave up too many homers, and had bad defense behind him. This early in the season, xERA and xFIP are the better numbers.
Because Maldy has shown he can turn it around. Straw has never shown a bat. At this point he's just a place holder until someone develops or we trade for a better option.
They ain't booing us because of the cheating. They are booing us because we pretty much have been kicking their ass since the rebuild.
They're also booing cause the Astros are the only team twice to prevent the Yanks from going to the World Series in the last 4 years.
Dumbass 0-2 pitch by Javier...then a shift oppo single = no out trouble I missed his AB, after he got up 3-0 were the 3 strikes in the zone?
Outlaw the shifts! Everybody has to stand in the same, traditional places in both the infield and outfield. Then, wherever the ball goes...deal with it!
