Mills would’ve been a 1st if he played more and didn’t have durability issues

That doesn’t mean we waste a pick...we could have picked players that will contribute next year and once we can draft a franchise qb with our number 1 next year

Makes me wonder if they don’t feel super confident about next year’s QB class? This gives you a young QB to work with and you can take a young stud player with what will likely be a high first round pick next season.

Because you believe he can be a good QB.

If he turns out to be a good QB then you can use that pick on another position. Not every all-star QB is drafted in the top 5.

Unless he becomes a starter guaranteeing we don’t need to draft a qb next year this was a horrible waste of a pick

Yep. Mills would have probably been the number 1 or 2 QB next year

Texans *had to* draft big and strong there- instead drafted clipboard-holder because he went to "Christian" high school

But he won’t show enough by next year to stop us from drafting a qb if were number 1 and rattler shows out

so well have to take rattler anyways...so this pick is garbage unless Davis winds up starting this year and proving it...which with Tyrod starting he probably won’t

So they stalkingly called Watson who doesn't want to be here but didn't call a draft pick that would be excited to hear from them ... Go Texans!

    Okay 4.67.
I was a tenth off (it's been a few years).
But that number sounds awful slow for Mahomes.
You can see he moves faster that that.
    Especially short-area quickness.

Sneaky pick. Mills came out early and with only 6 games last year and looked good. No, he will sit the 1st year in NFL but that's OK. This is a lost year and you know it. Texans likely to be aiming for 1st pick next year and this could give them options. If a franchise type QB is available go for it and Mills will be low cost backup, or maybe Mills develops and now he may be the QB. GM building for next year. Thanks to DW4 debacle, this is lost year but if everything works out they made have a ton of picks next year.

It sounds like the biggest knock on Mills is a lack of playing time. The funny thing is had he gone back to school and played well the Texans may have drafted him next year with the 3rd pick or something.

Even if you are 0-17 you don't need to take a QB #1

I don't think the pick is garbage until it's proven to be garbage. It's just too early to tell.

One thing not discussed enough is Pep Hamilton helping develop Mills. Mills seems like Tom Savage but maybe he’ll have a better chance to develop with Hamilton.
