If he can shoot like that he will make it. But it was a performance from a player who was on a court literally filled with scrubs. So we need to see this in a high leverage game. It's a good starting point though.
Dude, Jrue Holiday is literally one of the best defensive guards in the NBA and he shook him multiple times. And they have Middleton and Lopez.
I'd say they are an average team without Ante, better than us, but still not good. We had two guys with 30+ and one with 20+ last night, which is not our norm, or anywhere close to it, so it looked and smelled like a streetball game. They had 3 with 30+. Not the norm either for those guys. There was no defense. If we can repeat that against a quality opponent it would be a sign.
Offensively they aren't great without him but they have multiple all NBA caliber defenders even without him. Scoring 50 on Jrue is extremely impressive. Many consider him the best on ball guard defender.
not a fluke or flash in the pan among them. Marbury is probably the risk case - never on a good team, ego got ahead of him, etc. But undeniable talent and a legit star for a few years. He did it against a top defender and he did it when he was 20. Of course he shot way better than normal - so did everyone else on that list, which is why they only did it once or twice in their career. But no one who isn’t insanely talented has blundered their way into a night like that. He did something that represents a once in a lifetime game only achievable by top stars. And we have people saying “it’s a good start.” LMAO.
Why the need to put down a fantastic performance? In this sh*t-tastic season, Porter Jr's game was an amazing shining light. Can't you just appreciate it for what it was? A record breaking game against one of the NBA's best teams, with or without their best player, to get a win. That was simply awesome. I can't wait to see what this kid is capable of. I think he can be the franchise player and worth being built around.
He just did something no one who wasn’t a franchise player ever did. Some people are just professional cynics. Others are just irrationally obsessed with the grass being greener elsewhere (I’ll spare the suspense ... the odds of either Jalen Suggs or Green ever putting up 50/10 are astronomically low). Does it mean we’ll win a championship with KPJ as the main piece? Of course not. But does he have “top player on a championship team” potential? Absolutely.
Probably just me but the craziest thing about that list is seeing that Westbrook has pulled it off 3 times and in those 3 games averaged 39 shot attempts. 10 more shots per game than Harden has in his 8. lol wild.
Posters protect themselves which is normal. There should be nothing wrong with that. One misstep and they could get mocked for years. You could also say the world is full of cynics and folks who are out to get you for being hyped up. I am also in that being cautiously optimistic category. I am all for you feeling good about this kid.
There are not many 20 year old's dropping 50 points and 11 assists...in any era.....i dont care how good or bad the team is. This kid is special. There are players that will NEVER sniff scoring 50 points in a game at any level. This kid did it at the highest level.
If you change your opinions or dampen your enthusiasm/happiness to protect your anonymous avatar on an obscure corner of the internet from equally anonymous and supremely pathetic people who might dig up an old quote from said anonymous avatar on said obscure corner of the internet ... well, that says a lot more about you than about the future of KPJ. (“You” in the general sense, not you specifically.)
You could be the biggest critic of Porter ever (which I can't understand why but that's another story for another day) but you can't help but to tip your hat to the kid and that performance. In terms of game score metrics from basketball-reference.com, Porter put in the 18th best performance this season (for anyone wanting to know the best, it was Embiid in February to the tune of 50 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, 2 steals, 17/26 from the field, 15/17 from the free throw line). In terms of where he's at in his NBA career, Porter's performance is in the top 10 (7th) of this century when you look at a player's first or second year in the league.
Well, we dwell in a corner of the internet, that is only one of the best sports forums, if not the best. And Porter is guaranteed millions if he is just an ordinary player in the US. The bar is not high for players to feel better about themselves than the average Joe Poster. It's still a Win Win. (Players need fans and critics, and vice versa we need players and teams.) You would not have arguments with people if everyone was of the same opinion. Also natural to play the Safe card.
In the 9 games he's missed this year, the Bucks are 5-4. If you include last night's game they're a .500 ballclub without him this year.
Carrying a team to a .500 record is damn hard my friend . That's why the media is giving him so much MVP hype even though other players like Jokic and Embiid have done more lifting this year. I mean...isn't the MVP award given to the best player on the team with the most wins? Or are they changing the formula again?
you act like they were last place without Giannis. just say he had a great performance against a decent team how hard is that
