The facts and the timeline require "x,y, z" going right. It's barely likely we keep our top 4 pick this year and if we don't that most likely sets us back another year.

I think it's likely we'll be competitive again by 23/24, but banking on hitting on a multitude of draft picks while being able to use your cap space on top free agents to get back to contention seems pretty generous.

    Lots of "ifs".....

You have to remember that the draft is crapshoot and it's not guaranteed that you'll get a star out of it. For every Lebron James there is a Kwame Brown. What further complicates the matter is that we don't own all our draft picks for the next few years thanks to the disastrous westbrook trade.

As of right now the Rockets have no foundational star player to build on. Wood is a nice complimentary piece but not the franchise player. Everyone else does not have star potential.

This is going to be a long process.

The Rockets improved by 15 games the season they added Yao, but that also included the return to health from the previous season’s injured players. The Cavs had an 18-win improvement the year they added LeBron. With Luka Doncic, the Mavs had nine more wins than the previous season. If the Rockets’ lottery pick ends up being a ROY-type player, we’re looking at like eight to twelve game improvement, maybe? That might still give them 20-32% chance to land a top-4 pick next season. It’s incredible how much the Rockets’ future now relies on little plastic balls popping up and aligning in a favorable way.

that's the best hope. The guys you mentioned are generational talents with historic rookie years. It cuold also be the way of Tyreke evans, an impressive ROY campaign, did not lead to wins or future development.

I like Cade, I do think we have talent and we're severely underperforming this year but we also have no depth and mostly gleague talent who have spirit and are fun to root for, but this league isn't easy and the west is just getting tougher and tougher.

What i'd like to see with a our new rebuilding project is Rockets invest in our player development system, in our culture, facilities, have a program that cuts out the tillman killer instinct BS and let people, staff be able to focus on improvement and competing. He tried to cut corners and margins and we are in a disaster place, but its not totally unsalvageable and we can do things better for our future, but the guy whose lied continually at the top has take a look at the mirror and for once not take a picture and post it front and center in a TC mural, but change how he operates We have a Rookie Gm who by all accounts is smart, and a rookie coach, a real leader doesn't try to appoint newbies with almost not credible vets in our front office that he can walk over. We need vets, we need a culture so the young guys can grow and know how to do it. Even miami pays haslem just to be the culture let alone they got former Rockets Shane battier as well.

Those things are more alarming otherwise we will be in prepetual rebuild and punting to the future promises and pointing the blame elsewhere as Ferntitty has been doing
