Durant is way quicker. Like 32.5 year-old Durant with a torn achilles is way quicker, has significantly more explosiveness. Wood is a better comp physically, and even then Wood has more hops. Zhou Qi, Pokusevski, Austin Daye, also come to mind. If he beefs up maybe Turkoglu?
https://www.essentiallysports.com/n...-banchero-and-gonzaga-bulldogs-chet-holmgren/ In the recent Iverson Classic, both Banchero and Holmgren went head to head and impressed. The rankings may have Holmgren ranked number one and Banchero as three, but NBA scouts were undecided. But one executive from a NBA finals contender had an interesting way to explain the difference between Banchero and Holmgren with regards to where they stood currently. “If I needed someone to throw into a NBA game tomorrow, Paolo Banchero could give my team 15 and 8 and fit in perfectly with our group in terms of skill, feel and competitiveness wise,” the executive said. “He has everything you look for at his position and plenty of room to grow too.” “But if I’m a lottery team picking who I think will be the best long-term prospect five years down the road, though, I’m taking Chet. There’s just more downside there.”
Found an older highlight clip of this kid. The footage isn't great, but it shows him dominating against superior competition to the other videos I've seen Spoiler
Chet Holmgren fits the "Unicorn" label to a T. He is much more effortless and comfortable driving to the basket than Evan Mobley for sure. Holmgren is already just as effective on defense as Mobley with an offensive game much more refined and translatable to the NBA - he just needs to make sure his body can take the pounding. Same question mark as Mobley, but with more to work with. Im still head over heels for Banchero though - he has the Lebron type impact Im looking for.
Agreed. Interested to see if NBA teams will let him play on the wing and develop his perimeter skills. Maybe the Giannis route where he picks up guard and wing duties the first few years to develop the handle and vision, then gets shifted to the 4/5? Giannis' lack of shooting held him back from developing a true perimeter game, and accelerated his shift to PF, so maybe Holmgren will be able to stick on the wings since he can actually shoot. I know how whole "bird in hand" thing goes, but Holmgren, Banchero, and Wembayama in the next ~2 drafts has me second guessing Mobley at #2.. Mobley could end up being the best player of the bunch, but they hype for these guys is hard to ignore. Wembayama is balling out at the U19 World Cup, and Banchero looks like he could average 14 and 8 in the NBA right now lol.
Didn't watch the game, just saw the stat line, and twitter, which did imply Victor did work... but for anyone who watched the game, was there any of Victor being clearly the best player and #1 option on his team, and Chet being one of many solid USA players?
