Castro was a terrible signing and for way to much money if Click was going to sign him. Guess Click's stuck with Castro for another year after this one. SMH
I saw all off season people crunching numbers having the Astros win 90 games, but this team is basically what they were last regular season a .500 team at best. Its starting to look like this team is closer to the 2011-2014 teams than they are to the 2017-2019 squads.
Castro has played well in the limited opportunities he has received and would likely produce if given the chance. The Baez overpay is the principal sin of the past off-season, IMO.
The roster that they’ve had available is probably a .500 team, but if everyone is healthy this is still a really good team. It’s not on par with the 2019 roster due to the hole in CF and the lack of an intimidating ace, but a fully healthy 2021 (even without Verlander) roster is as talented as the 2015-2018 teams. I still think they’ll rebound and win ~85 games but they put themselves in a hole early and one of the main reasons is that they gambled on Straw and are losing that bet big time.
Not bad. Verlander deal better, albeit the extension. Still waiting to see if the Astros truly lost any "gems" in the trade. Can't say the Cole deal was bad for the Astros too, although it was certainly better initially for the Pirates than the Archer deal ended up being.
