Yes, GG is very streaky, even more so than Gordon. He's not really an elite shooter. But he could be considered a good shooter. Maybe if he had smarter shot selection, his overall percentage would be better.
Well, guys who (1) can shoot AND (2) don't have to be spoon fed for open shots AND (3) can stay on the floor because their don't suck too much on other things, aren't a dime a dozen. Here's the thing. If you can only spot up and shoot, there are a ton of other guys who can replace you, unless your spot up shooting is really elite, like way over 40%. But if you can pull up anywhere and shoot at a high percentage, then you can be indispensable. Eric Gordon used to be that. But no more. Guys like Gerald Green can get off his shots any time without much help. But he can't hit them at a high percentage. Guys like Troy Daniels can hit shots but the kind of shots he can hit are limited. If Brooks can develop into the prime EGo, we should rejoice. We'll see.
Theres one we can get late in the draft. Chris Duerte. Big for his position. Above average defender. Boarderline elite shooter. Old enough/mature enough to be ready to compete. If he was 19 he'd be a lottery pick for sure.
EG gets layups and to the foul line when he isn't fumbling the ball. Brooks has no clue how to drive the lane. EG is a lot more valuable and Brooks isn't likely to ever get that first step, or the ability to finish. If all he can be is a streaky shooter, there's not much value outside of sitting at the far end of the bench.
Sometimes I am hit by how absolutely over-the-top brutal the competition is in the NBA. Keep working Armoni! We’re rooting for you.
he wasn't making shots but he grabbed 10 boards with 4 assists and a block, decent contribution for an off night
He’s a very good rebounder and a better defender than I expected, so he’s definitely not a one trick pony. He put Wood to shame on the boards. Wood is a weak rebounder for his size it’s shameful.
I have seen enough, he is a poor man's chucker - barely an NBA end of bench player. His form looks good but his ability to make them is just not good.....unless he can shoot 40% - he is not worth having on the roster. DD
We've got a lot of guys that are fringe nba or dleague players. It speaks to how talented the NBA is because a lot of people can step up and showase talents especially on a losing team like this. That said, hes an elite shooter, I'm encouraged of him hustling out 10 boards and a block on a night when his shot is not falling. Hes not anyone we can build around, but with those skills he can be a good complimentary piece which is what majority of our pieces are contingent on a star or face to come in. KPJ has obviously shown flashes. Having him run PG when he is more of a natural shot maker is an interesting way to develop his full awareness especially when we aren't close to winning this yea.r Woods is solid, its his first year being 'the man'. I'm excited to see what he does with an offseason to adjust which will be more telling, both could be solid 3rd options mybe really good 2nd options. We'll find out how motivated they are and hopefuly they can pass that up with an offseason of hunger. KPJ and Wood are both free agents two years from now and should command big money so they have a lot to play for next two years.
Armoni Brooks is better than Lou Williams in ability to defend and rebound. Lou Williams is more of a midrange shot creator coming off the bench. Lou Williams has accomplished more in the the NBA. But Armoni being 22 years old. Maybe comes off the bench next year, hopefully getting the Top 4 pick as a Starter. Armoni is more playable as a defender than Ben Mclemore, who gets lost on defense and can't move his feet at all. Armoni Brooks really needs a off season to work on his shot and dribbling through traffic. Armoni can create his own shot, I think the team needs to encourage him to attack the rim in some possessions. Too many deep 3s. Bench Armoni Brooks KJ Martin Jr JaeSean Tate - maybe gets replaced as a Starter, Free Agency or a Rookie
Armoni Brooks is a fringe NBA player dime a dozen shooting specialist, except his percentages are poor I’m sure people were hyping the sh*t out of him to start like they were doing with Mason Jones
i don't like watching this guy play. i understand the tank philosophy, but there are plenty of actual nba-level players on the roster up that task. this guy's presence on the court is an insult to rocket fans still watching
