Can anybody tell me what to look for. specific breeds puppy vs older dog cost vs rescue. I have always really liked these dogs and want to get one over the summer, what is best way to go about getting one, don't need pure bred or an expensive dog. I want a smaller boxer.
guessing this was a hangout thread. we've had a couple of boxers, they do have some health issues. white boxers are usually culled, so they can be available for little or nothing, and still have a great temperament. best to see the parent dogs if you go the puppy route, otherwise there are boxer rescue groups that can help you locate adult dogs
Used to own a couple of boxers. Plenty at your local animal rescue most likely. They're not typically a very smart breed but are very sweet and extremely loyal when given plenty of love and care. Expect things like tumors to surface towards the later stages of their life. Lots of personality though as they're goofy as all can be.
don't know any of these but there are websites that list all kinds of dog rescue groups, here's one that lists several boxer groups: https://boxer.rescueshelter.com/Texas
One of the old mods on the Texans forum runs a boxer rescue .... I'll give him a call later today and see about contact info. I had boxers for years , gave my mother one of my pups , now she's on her 3rd one. They do have some health issues you should look out for.
