A few, not asking for much but a few, timely hits here and there and they win this homestand. But yes, the pitching has also been ****. It's been a cluster****.
Dusty said McCullers was sick and taking IVs after the game. There's a bug in the clubhouse along with Corona. Brantley was ill yesterday.
I saw the post game with Dusty Baker. If McCullers is sick then this is seriously flagrant. Game should of just been postponed.
So we're just appropriately ****ed? How the **** do I @J.R.; there needs to be tweets compounding how this affects a team
The lack of transparency is extremely strange. NFL teams and NBA teams willingly share their covid protocol status and why certain players are out (and why certain games get postponed). The Astros may have screwed themselves by being so efficient in calling in reserves and having everything ready to go. I’m guessing that’s what leads to game postponements... which ultimately are joint home team/mlb calls. if you have 26 players on the roster by game time... you play. I’m curious if they’re going to require the 10 day IL stint for all these players clearing the protocol. Doesn’t sound like they will based on some of the comments.
If only the treatment of the Astros were predictable ahead of time based only on one tweet about roster moves: https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/official-tigers-astros.311263/page-8#post-13520251 It is what it is. Better to get this stuff out of the way early. Still .500 and fortunately the other top AL teams have scuffled a bit - Twins, Yankees, CWS, Tampa and even Angels still around .500 also. Only the Red Sox pulling ahead, but not worried about them.
I wouldn't worry about a vendetta or impartial treatment... Its probably more like (MLB to Click): "Will the replacement players be there in time?" Yes = play No = postpone Click is good/organized and probably knows instantly what he would do in any given situation such as this... he was probably all over it and ensured the players would make it to MMP ready to go. Hence, they play.
Straw is good for singles. He’s also fast. But, if that’s his biggest upsides...then he isn’t a starter. He can go back to his role as sub when we need a speedy player on base running. Straw is nowhere near a Springer as a player. I don’t know what Astros brass is thinking by making Straw an everyday player?
He's basically free. They're hoping he can be adequate enough as a starter for a few years so that they can use money addressing other issues. In 2019 he was, so far he hasn't been this year.
It truly is amazing to me how rarely he’s able to use that speed to extend those singles into extra bases. You’d think he’d luck into more doubles than he does.
He hits everything in the air to RF. Very easy to do an OF shift to take away doubles especially since MMP makes it easier to shift that way.
Diaz is one of the 5 best hitters that played last night. Considering he's the worst in slugging of those 5, he definitely should not bat 4th or 5th. Is it that big a deal that Diaz didn't bat leadoff or 3rd?
