I'm wondering how this new draft scenario stops teams from tanking. If you are out of the playoffs you may try to still lose as many games as possible to get a better shot of getting a higher pic (Even if it's not in the top 3). Also, I feel this new scenario makes it easier for mid level teams to tank as before they wouldn't want the #13 or #14 seed in the draft and prefer to make the playoffs. Now their changes of hitting a high draft pic or higher they may see the playoffs as a detriment in that case. Imagine having a team that really is THAT bad (not counting injuries) and their only shot is to get a stud out of the draft. They get 5-10 wins only in the entire season and yet still wind up with a pick possibly in the top 5-8 instead of 1-3. I feel that will keep that bad team being bad for several years and maybe the time they finally get the #1 pick it turns out to be a weak draft. We have a race for the top each year, I see nothing wrong with the race to the bottom if your team is not good.
Magic won tonight! That's big as they're the 4th worst record. They now have 18 wins. We're at 14 but playing well tonight. Hopefully TCM can come thru in the clutch for us! (Tank Commander Wall)
We now have a 4 game cushion between us and the 4th worst record and a 6 game cushion between us and the 5th worst record.
Orlando beat the bulls tonight Detroit lost to the clips by 2. So close to picking up 2 more. Of course mini got blown out. Never seen a team with as much talent as they have suck so much. Pretty pathetic.
Miami's pick is now 16th, could easily fall to 12th which would increase the chances for a Rockets top 4 pick by 7% http://www.tankathon.com/
Maybe I'm missing something, but the only way we get the Miami pick is if we don't finish in the top 4 with our own pick. It wouldn't increase the chances by 7%, it would replace the 52% chance of a top 4 pick with a 7% chance. The 12th pick actually has an 86% chance of being the 12th pick.
I agree with this! The league is already so top heavy - more times are cashing in ... This draft is so deep I want one of the top 5 talents - and then I want one of the Baylor guards... and a couple of sleepers
With so few games left, the Rockets are basically assured a 48-52% chance of a top 4 pick now. good luck
