Harris is the best NBA prospect at PG right now.

As a Baylor student, Lucas IS NOT anything close to an NBA prospect. He's horrible at initiating an offense. He dribbles the ball all day long. He's a very poor man's Cassell.

The best PG prospect in HS I have seen is a kid named Jordan Farmar, who is committed to UCLA. In a couple years, he should be a 1st rounder. Jason Kidd with a jumper. He's not as flashy as Telfair, but he's the ultimate PG.

Agreed. Lucas' best attributes are his ability to drive past his defender, as well as an uncanny knack for hitting extremely clutch shots. He has carried OSU on his back this year, but I don't see him as going any higher than early 2nd round.

Jameer Nelson will be a serviceable NBA PG.

Do ya'll think Nelson is closer to Tim Hardaway or Damon Stoudemire? Those are the two guys I most think of when I think of Nelson, the former was certainly more than a servicable PG though the latter is sort of a definition of a servicable NBA PG with some strengths and plenty of weaknesses.

He also is a horrible, horrible defender. He's somewhat undersized for college (weak) which will render him useless in the NBA, sinec he's not a freak athlete or has intangibles, other than being clutch.

He's very bony and will get pushed around easily. He doesn't have the quick hands that Earl Boykins does, so that comparison is invalid. If Hollis Price didn't make it to the pros, then Lucas has zero chance unless he gains 50 lbs.

I don't think that Jameer is close to either of those guys. I'd compare him to a Juan Dixon with better playmaking and passing.

Jameer is nowhere near as quick as Tim Bug or Stoudamire was.

Jameer will struggle in the NBA. I see backup PG all the way. At best, he's a Bobby Jackson.

At worst Nelson is slightly better than Mateen Cleaves, imho.

I think he'll be better than Cleaves, in that he's a much better shooter and athlete than Cleaves.

Gerry McNamara would make a nice Rocket with his outside shooting

If he is another Bobby Jackson then the team who drafts him is getting a steal. As far as Lucas I thill he will get a shot as A F.A. and then get cut. Like Baqui99 said if Price or Logan didn't make it I know Lucas won't. Our freshman year at Bellaire Lucas was like 5'5 105lbs. Omeka was 6'1 and Lawrence Roberts was 6'3.

Okafor was much taller than 6 ft 1...

It's too bad that Roberts xferred out of Bellaire. That trio would have/could have beaten Willowridge's 3-headed monster in 2001.

I'm interested in getting people's renewed opinions of PGs in the draft. I don't think it's crazy that Francis could be traded for a package involving a high draft pick, and we would actually have our choice of any of the point guards in the draft if we wanted.

I'm still intrigued by Harris. He a true point guard, but he can also score, which would be good given Yao's tenativeness on offense. Duhon does seem like the best fit for a role-player point guard. Another intriguing second-round possibility is Antonio Burks. Small, but quick.

I think Harris is really overrated. In time, Livingston and Telfair could be good, but not for awhile.
I like Nelson alot, but not really sure how he'll be. Definitely better than Mateeen.
I don't remember much about Burks other than that he was really fast down the court. Of course for a 2nd round, why not?
I wouldn't really look at the draft to get a point guard though. I would be scared if we traded Francis for a high draft pick seeing CD's genius. We should just get a FA PG and try to trade for a good Small Forward. I have no idea why so many want a power forward.

I think Telfair and Livingston will be good sooner than people think.

There just aren't many great PGs in the NBA right now. I wish there were a way to trade Francis for Livingston + filler.

well, yaopao, Steve reportedly said he heard he'd been offered to Charlotte for their lottery pick (#4). Doubt it'll happen, but the fact it came up is interesting.

Jameer Nelson reminds me of Stoudamire.
I think at worst he'll be a good backup pg

I like Lionel Chalmers, he's quick, can handle, and shoot. He'll make a good backup pg. I wouldn't mind the rockets taking him in the second round.

Delonte West reminds me alot of Cuttino. He doesn't have Cat's first step but is a better pure shooter. Just like Cat , he's a lefty , 6'4 and cannot play the point . He's a natural 2.

Ben Gordon is a natural 2. I think he'll have trouble playing point.

Duhon can defend but his shooting isn't consistent enough and he can't take people off the dribble. I hope the Rockets don't draft him.
