Some said the same about CP3 and Westbrook but it happened....I think it can be and needs to be done this Off-Season! KPJ needs to be our starting PG and Augustine needs to be the backup moving forward, unless the Rockets draft Davion Mitchell.
I agree and can see that happening, it may be our best option, buyouts are a tough thing to swallow. It would only be done as a good gesture favor to rich paul most likely in hopes they give us a nod or relationship later
So you're okay with spending 4 first-round picks to get rid of Wall, like we did with CP3? Or taking back an even worse contract, like we did with Westbrook? Sure, we'd have no John Wall, but we'd also have no future.
The contract doesn't really bother me. I don't think we'll be a free agency destination for the next 3 years anyway. I just don't want him getting his stink on any of the young guys. If, next year, he's still not willing to step back and let the youngins take the reins I'd just straight up cut him or DNP him till he agrees to drop that player option.
Thank god youre not the GM. There is no upside on getting rid of JW before his contract expires. Rockets are not in a position to attract anyone worthy of wanting max money. Having him on the roster also increases the probability of having a better pick in the draft. Keep him here and feed him the ball the next two years, then use him as a huge expiring for a trade. why TF would you use an asset to let go of someone who is getting you better assets.
The ONLY way to protect him and for us to get through this....they have to; A) Sit him down B) Explain to him that he is our 3rd option at best. C) Buy him out (I don't see this happening, so it's A or B).
does Wall think he has, and does he have a chance to be a hall of famer? if so sitting him next year may make him waive his player option. that may be an idiotic move though I dont know, with possible unforeseen circumstances.
3rd Option? More like 4th Option. John Wall is so Selfish and Clumsy when he shoots 3s and misses layups in the 4th. 4th Quarter 7 minutes left Kevin Porter Jr. Armoni Brooks Sterling Brown Christian Wood Kelly Olynek
He will sit on the Couch and collect his check. But he won't get a Supermax high value Contract, it will never happen again
Aint nothing gonna make John Wall give up that $47.3m player option. No amount of DNP's or even injuries .... He's gonna make that money on one team or another.
I guess it really depends on what happens in the draft. If the Rockets get Cunningham or Suggs, then you are going to have to tell Wall to **** off.
That's probably true and I don't really mind either way. I'd rather have him rot on the bench with his 46M than throw a 100/4 to Kelly Oubre or Duncan Robinson or whomever. We can just let that money burn till 2023.
Agreed! The players run the league but if it's determined by the organization that he's not conducive to helping them win, they are going to have to come to a mutual agreement to part ways.
I'm almost positive that Wall & the team would love to mutually agree to part ways ..... right now. I'm absolutely certain he'd much prefer to play for a contender than lead the tank brigade. There's also zero doubt that the team could find better ways to spend 32% of the cap than paying Wall. He doesn't move the needle towards wining nor does he fit their timeline .... that money cold be better spent on young players with upside. Problem is , a third party has to want Wall and at that price , nobody wants him.
You should send Stone a trade request proposal that not only him but the team he will potentially do the trade would will accept and also benefit the Rockets. In the mean time just put that here for us all to mill over.
Should the Rockets trade for Russell Westbrook again, Send John Wall back and also get a 1st Round Pick.
