He just turned 23 and his per 36 mins stats are 19ppg 12rpg 2bpg on 64 percent shooting. Those are top 5 center numbers. He is also great at defending the pick and role and can stay in front of guards on a switch. All he has to work on is his rim protection, post defense and conditioning for him to be an all star. Why isn't he considered a top prospect?
People are still waiting to see if he can produce his own offense. He has shown small glimpses but if he is not spoon fed a dunk he can't produce. That's generally why. Also, he has been inconsistent in defense/rebounding. Basically, they like the potential but are not ready to crown him yet.
I don't really think he's underrated, especially considering he was a 25th pick...in fact i heard announcers and analysts speak pretty well about him for all the season quite often...and btw i agree with what @clos4life just said.
Gotta agree with @clos4life. He has improved every year, he does complete most of his spoon fed passes . Another summer with Hakim should go a long way. I want him in a Rockets uni for many years to come.
He's not underrated. He's kind like Amare Stoudemire, stats padded due to brilliance of the system and their star PG (Harden, Nash). Stoudemire was overrated, so I guess that hurts Capela's chance of being overrated.... And like clos4life said, he needs to prove he is not relying on the system and a great PG to produce.
Doesn't have a good nickname. He will be properly rated once the team starts promoting him as Clint "The Swiss Chocolate" Capela.
According to my Jazz fan coworkers: Capela: A. Is the worst defensive center in the league B. Has low IQ and bad instincts C. Bigs who enter the league with minimal skill usually stay that way D. Anyone could average 19 ppg catching lobs for Harden. Especially Jeff Withey.
Fearless Shot Blocker in Clint Capela. But cant move Laterally on Defense. Never improved his broken shooting technique. But Fears Draymond Green and Kevon Looney.
