I believe my son counted in traffic yesterday on I35 22 cranes within eyesight. Austin is going to look vastly different if you compare say a skyline shot from 1990 to 2040. 50 years later and BOOM

I'm looking forward to bulldozing the Erwin Center. The new arena is half underground and will look a lot more integrated into the city than the drum does.

The new google building under construction at block 185 is really really pretty and is going to look great. We have a new tallest under construction on 6th St and our first 1,000 ft tower in the planning stages. It's an exciting time if you follow development.

The project name is just "Waller Creek" at Cesar and Red River. The approximately 2.3 million-square-foot tower will contain a 240-unit hotel, nearly 700,000 square feet of office space, 332 residential units, and 43,000 square feet of general retail space.

I can't imagine investing in a commercial real estate project of that magnitude at all given what we've learned through this pandemic....but I'm sure those guys are privy to a lot better information on that than I am.

What will be going in where the Drum was, once it's demolished? I have great memories of going to high school basketball tournaments and the first round of March Madness in 1995 with my dad...and also going to a Boyz II Men concert in (probably) 1996 with my then girlfriend/now wife :) The traffic around there is insane, so I was wondering if they're opening up the property for better access off 35.

I think it's going to be used to expand the new Dell medical school. This article is from 2013, but I haven't heard anything else since then.

Yeeeaaaaah. That looks questionable, from a general taste standpoint.

Austin really is going in the wrong direction. I miss the days that the tallest building in Austin was the Franklin Federal Building. I guess you can't stand in the way to progress. I say the tesla plant yesterday. Oh my gawd, it's gianormous.

The drum will be for the expanded medical school. You would also be crazy not to invest in commercial real estate in Austin right now.

The time to invest in Austin was 20 years ago: Rainey St, Travis Heights, East of 35, SoCo, South Lamar, etc....

My comments weren't really Austin specific, but I get your point for sure. I think there's a pretty harsh reckoning coming for commercial real estate. I'm not sure if Austin is immune from that.

It still is particularly with office space even with 6X becoming our new tallest in a few months.
There is just relatively little office s
To invest in land holding and now the opportunity is investing in building. 6X is going to be the tallest tower in Austin in a few months and it's office. the new google sail tower will be finished construction in about a year. That's not stopping other office projects from being financed because of how crazy behind we are in office space. All we've been building in the last decade are condos, apartments and hotels.

Anyway, can't wait for the season to start.

Got to explore downtown a bit over the weekend. First time in about a decade or so and man the Austin skyline from Lady Bird Lake is gorgeous. Checked out Rainey St. early in the evening and seemed like a cool spot, definitely different feel from dirty 6th.

Heard a few things about tent city and was still caught a bit off guard by it a bit.

Anyone have a good way to watch the spring game?? A link or a download or something? I don't have Uverse/LHN anymore.
I am so pumped! QB battle, linebackers, secondary, WR, OL, Tyler Owenrs, EE's - all to watch and dissect!

No idea. Maybe they'll put a replay on the web in the next couple of days?

Not sure what a good UT board is, but you might check there for possibilities.
