as much as people want to think the warriors were "light years ahead", the building of their dynasty probably rested on just as much luck as the above. or at least it was just a series of fortunate events. the owner took over after they drafted curry so it's not like he started it all with some master plan. the GM who drafted steph and klay isn't the same as the guy who drafted draymond so it's not like they just found one genius who knew what he was doing. to hear andrew bogut tell it, draymond was close to playing overseas before his career really took off with kerr. something tells me when they drafted draymond, they probably hoped he would be a nice player and weren't thinking "i bet he'll be an all-time great, just as long as we eventually hire the failed GM of the phoenix suns to coach the team and revolutionize positionless basketball." even hiring kerr took him deciding to not go to his assumed choice of the knicks. and then of course they might have been stuck on just the one (still nice to have) title because no team of their caliber has ever had a shot at someone like durant, except they got a once in a generation cap spike to make it happen (and durant being dumb enough to think it would help his legacy). if anything they are just reverting to the mean. until klay comes back better than ever and they get minnesota's #4 pick and use it and/or wiseman to get some other star.
well i assume he doesn't lose the bet if he doesn't play 90%, it's just off. though considering steph hasn't missed less than 16% of a season in 4 years (16%, 38%, 91%, 16% this year), it probably needed to be 80%.
Also works the other way too. If Curry doesn’t get hurt they don’t get him on a low contract that allows them to pay others and bring in Durant. If the cap doesn’t spike when Durant is a FA. If OKC doesn’t let Harden get away. If Kawhi doesn’t get hurt by ZaZa. If Kyrie and Love don’t get hurt. Etc.
OTOH, @15-16, if Curry didn't slip on Motiejunas sweat, if Bogut lasted two more games, if donkey was tamed and restrain from kicking out (avoid suspension), then they also likely wouldn't end up with Durant, as Durant can't possibly withstand the criticism of joining the best team ever. However, then the warriors still would have claimed the best season ever with 73wins + repeat title.
If James Harden was still on the rockets and had the same stats as curry right now but was 10th in the west conference like steph is currently. Would the media still vote him all nba I just can’t help but feel like if harden was doing what curry is this on the rockets. He would get snubbed for someone like cp3
FACTS Steph can’t even get an 8th seed? look at the roster Harden had for most of the unguardable tour with CP3, EG, and Capela missing so much time...he carried the team to a 21-11 record during that stretch including a win at Oracle meanwhile, GS is just a half game back of New Orleans for 11th in the West
Same could be said of DeMar Derozan. The reason Curry is getting the excuse treatment, like Lebron did 1st yr as Laker missing the playoffs, is because ppl have invested narratives that are being shattered without excuses.
This rebuild is not gonna go well if people are using AI as an example of what you should and should not do to young players.
yeah AI got his money. only pride stood between him and accepting a bench role. oubre is 25 and the warriors he knows are not a championship contender, they are a 10th seed. asking a 25 year old if he wants to sign up to be a bench player for the 10th seed is pretty ridiculous.
klay will never be the same again more than likely also the warriors just lost at HOME to the wizards
If he's able to sustain his elite shooting, he'll help the Warriors tremendously. The more shooters GSW has, the more impact Draymond Green has. What's your point? The current Warriors aren't a good team, and I've been saying this for months.
Draymond is useless on a team that isn't great, but critical to a team that is great. What a weird player
But isnt steph a superstar? Isnt a star player suppose to make your team good? Which other superstar has a losing record?
Don't bother, people are calling Steph's supporting cast hot garbage, , meanwhile our squad without Harden is the second worst team in the league. And before the beginning of the season we were also predicted to be 4th in the West lmao. Alot of stats show that at worst these supporting squads are comparable. Only difference is 538 had us as a 4th seed in the West with Harden.
Steph Curry doesn’t seem able to carry a team unless surrounded by stars. They were well under .500% last time I looked.
