Steve is listed at 6"3 and Payton is only 1 inch taller and has notoriously abused smaller guards in the post. Can Steve do this?

Francis doesn't have a floater shot. What's the point of posting up his defenders?

Yes, Steve has posted up other PGs. I remembered he did it quite often against Milwaukee against Damon Jones and TJ.

He'd use his turnaround jumper, pretty effectively too.

Payton is a lot stronger. Steve is pretty good facing up, why would you want him to post up?

At his height who is he supposed to be posting up other than Earl Boykens? The point of a guard posting up against his defender is to take advantage of a height mismatch which Francis will rarely have.

Payton is only 1 inch taller and Mark Jackson is about Steves height.

I don’t think it would hurt for Steve to develop a post up game. It would probably prolong his career. He wouldn’t have to drive to the basket every time and take all the punishment if he had a post up game he could rely on like Kidd, Payton, and Mark Jackson do.

Yes, he posted up some late in the season but generally ended up missing a fallaway jumper - I don't ever remember him getting to the cup. He doesn't have the low post game of Payton or even Cat.

Yeah, those fallaway jumpers never seem to go in. And that's just about the only move that Steve has in the post. Payton is the master of the spin move in the post leading to easy layups, or at least he used to be. He doesn't get many oppurtunities to post up in the triangle.

Francis can do whatever he wants to do with the talent he has but he just can't think straight at all times.

Man, I just played fullcourt after watching playoff basketball and running alot and I played smart. Played to 30 and I had 8pts, 5 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals and I set like a dozen mean picks. Sorry but Karl helped me out on that one. ;)

I have tapes of both MIL games. How about a small tip jar wager that Francis never posted up? I might want to remind you that TJ was out for the season for the second game. :D

I haven't seen much of SF in the post. He must really suck at it, because he seems to have the physical tools for it. He's big, strong, quick, and has hops. He should be able to burn most pgs in the post, even those that are his size.
