The 2014-2015 and 2017-2018 Rockets were undoubtedly contenders regardless of the final outcomes. Especially with that 2018 team, you can't ask a GM to do more than that. It was as good a team in NBA history not to win it all.

 

Fair. But even Morey said himself, if they fail to get Harden a title then it was on himself. There may have been circumstances in 2018 but Harden wasn't looking at that when he decided to leave. At the end of the day Morey lost Harden on his watch, not Stone.
