This Verzuz battle was devastating. Three generations were watching on IG live for Easter, not sure if they broke records.
@ico4498 it’s totally fine to have an enormous chub for EWF, you could have just said so... to say that the Isley’s aren’t in their league is ridiculous. I don’t have a dog in the hunt btw.
I love you guys both (@thegary and @ico4498) but I would have to favor The Isley Brothers over E,W, and F. From "Brother, Brother, Brother" to "Go All the Way" - that's 9 straight studio albums by The Isleys that were from above average to outstanding. They slipped a little but did have "Between the Sheets" as their last hurrah. E, W, and F's debut was solid but their next couple of albums were meh but they came back strong with "That's the Way of the World" and the next 5 albums were very good but sorry, "Raise!" was a bad album and by that point, E, W, and F were pretty much finished.
Shub Niggurath - Les Morts Vont Vite Laibach - Nova Akropola Xhol Caravan - Electrip Swervedriver - Mezcal Head Maxophone - s/t
Push comes to shove I would pick Isley bros but EWF is incredible and right there, I can easily see others viewing it the other way. Really it doesn't matter both of them are true timeless greats. I'll pull up numbers for them later, but they are in pretty much everyone's league unless your going for #1 all time artists like MJ or Beatles etc. depending on your tastes. The show was so popular there were social media breakdowns of it afterwards:
