I think it was an optical illusion but that helicopter looked like it was about to hit those trees.

common sense knife control laws would have prevented this from happening

Successfully impeaching and removing Trump from office early in his presidency could have done a whole lot in terms of prevention.

nothing funny about it at all. The point is that mental health is quite likely the ultimate cause here as it is in so many of these incidents

Yes. It's a shame that Republicans and Trump have worked to enable mentally ill to legally purchase and own firearms. They have sought to remove limits for mentally ill to access firearms.

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2018/02/every-attempt-to-change-gun-laws-under-trump.html

Republicans also block expansion to get people with mental illness covered by insurance and treated.

Moderate Democrat Joe Biden signed a bill allowing increased access to mental health facilities. Guess which party was against it.

Meanwhile Trump's budget cut funds for mental health care.

It's not really an either or case with addressing sensible restrictions on firearms and mental health. Because Democrats are in favor of both, and Republicans oppose both in action. Of course in word when there is a shooting Republicans talk about needing more mental healthcare, but they never put action to their words.

Then maybe we should have a discussion about how we can tackle the growing issue of mental health, which would have to include tackling poverty as well.

Universal healthcare that includes mental health coverage, increasing the min wage, affordable housing programs, and creating universal child care all seem like no-brainers to me.

But all that **** do cost money.

On topic, I submit that anger-tainment media can claim more victims today.

Seems more relevant than guns to convo.

so sad another officer lost their life today.
