Very solid win from the gate to the finish line. We shut them down. Left them uncomfortable all night except when Jarreau turned away from Boheim on that one open three. But generally, we hurt them. On offense, it felt like they had half a strategy. The post pass was there, but they had no plan to attack it after the entry pass. And when they did get the ball to the baseline the bigs really had trouble finishing most of the game. Overall we kept them off the line and Jarreau knew what flavor bubble gum Buddy was chewing.
This is a CKS team. Defense and rebounding are #1 and #2 on the list. The Orange-men had a nice 6 minute stretch were their zone was on point and the Coogs could not get off a decent look. That coupled with in my opinion so high questionable officiating the made the game a little close. But in CKS fashion he told his boys way they need to do to get better looks and had them clamp down on the boards and it was GG baby. Great win! I am so thankful for this season since my son is now a sophomore at UH and has really taken to the team. Each win is truly a great experience to have with him and to see him really engaged in the tournament is so fun. So glad we only have to wait till Monday this time. Go Coogs
I am sooooo excited that we made it this far. Long time coming baby! Thank you Coogs for making basketball fun again in Houston after this dismal Rockets season. U of H is now an Elite 8 team, and I love it!
Very happy alum here. So many tough times sitting there in person and now I've been able to watch these past 4 seasons and the reward should come Monday night
This is like leaving a rescue beaver in your house, and not expecting a pile of junk to show up in the kitchen sink, but dam it, it does. Then you throw out the trash.
The Alatishe dude is slick. A pogo stick. Basically unguardable on offense except for the fact he's too timid to take advantage of his matchup. Since we trap, I don't expect much. He has a strong post game though resulting in short turnaround jumpers or fades.. Kind of reminds me of Dion Dowell. Apparently, he's from Houston which is interesting. I don't look for him to dominate, but he's real good. Lucas is a pure shooter, and the second in command if Ethan Thompson is in foul trouble. He can drive, but mostly three balls. He's the guy we can't leave. Reminds me of that umass guard Padillia. Reichel, the white guy, looks like a duck on skates. Our guards have got to take him off the dribble. And they can. Both Sasser and Jarreau should get past him as he flails mindlessly. Ethan Thomas looks pure, but is anything but that. He can dissipate faster than Buddy Boheim. Still scary though. And great hair. He seems like their Lando Calrissian dude.
I fear that sasser and grimes are both gone after this season. Hope I’m wrong because if they comeback this team would be even scarier next year.
Sasser isn’t going anywhere. There’s no reason for him to leave. He’s still locked in going into his junior year. Grimes is definitely gone. He’s a early 2nd round pick and his value won’t get any better than it is now. Best decision for him easily and it’s not going to surprise anyone in the program that he’s deciding to go pro. That’s why Mark’s development this season is so important bc he’s next in line
I've been seeing Grimes at about 60th to 70th on most ranking sites. But if he can't stay and improve his ranking to a top 30, then he probably should just go. I thought at the beginning of the year this would be QG last. Mark looks like he is almost ready for prime time. DJ has groomed him well.
Yeah the biggest thing for Mark this season was establishing his confidence and being able to feature him in spots with his versatility. With the long run game being that going into next year hes going to be a focal point of the Coogs with Sasser next year
