Poor Wilson. His playing time just went bye bye. No need to play him now that you have Wood and Olynyk. Olynyk is a legit proven rotational player.

True but I felt like the Heat were a sort of surprise team last season. They were good but they weren't supposed to be NBA Finals good. The Celtics were the team that had the long term progression with elite young talent maturing with a really good coach that had some deep playoff experience even for the youth of their top 2 players.

D.J. Augustin and Kelly Olynyk aren’t making up the talent gap between the Rockets and the Clippers, Jazz, Bucks, Nuggets, Suns, Lakers (game is in late May when Davis and LeBron will be back), Nets, 76ers, Blazers, Celtics and the Heat.

Personally I hope they start Wood and Olynyk together. Coach needs to experiment with playing Wood at the 4 instead. Those two could work really well off each other.

I would say that’s not the concern. The concern is we become good enough the cavs and wizards of the world knock us out of the 52% chance at a top four pick.

But is it making up the talent gap between the Wolves, Pistons, Magic, Wizards, Raptors, and Cavaliers? That's the real concern.

I could see olynk getting quite a few assists off of Wood if they play together.

Wizards and Cavs both win some random games here and there too and it can be argued they have more talent

The Rockets have two games you would give them a reasonable chance of winning (Wolves and Magic). They will be significant underdogs in the other 25 games. 18 of those games are against the Clippers, Jazz, Bucks, Nuggets, Suns, Nets, 76ers, Lakers (by the time Davis and LeBron are back), Blazers, Mavericks, Celtics and the Heat. I sincerely doubt they win any of those games.

At best, the Rockets might win a couple of games against the Knicks, Pacers, Warriors (twice), Pelicans, Hawks and Grizzlies.

Great team win for the rockets. I think Kelly can be a great addition and mentor to CWood. Also, Avery Bradley is from the same area as Kevin Porter jr. Could be another support system and mentor for him.

Someone really needs to come up with the Magic Number Tank thread. Hope someone does it.

The talent gap is only relevant between the Rockets, Wolves and Magic because the Rockets have one game remaining against each of them. The Rockets don’t play the others, and the Wizards, Raptors and Cavaliers have 3, 4, and 5 more wins than the Rockets right now. The Rockets schedule is also very difficult.

If there is a game the Rockets should really try to lose that they could easily win, it would be the game at Orlando. They only have two more wins than the Rockets and traded away their two best players.

Its really refreshing when a reality check is in line with a desired outcome.

Yes. If Wood is looked at as more of a "giannis" type of player (which he is), then he is better suited at the 4. Right now, him being at the 5 gives us mismatches on occasion, but it also leads to many nights where he's up against guys who have 30+ pounds on him and 2-3 inches in height who he ends up fouling often and struggles to get rebounds against.

Now that is a much more rosy outlook!
