Yes.... that would be the route to take when you get back draft picks for a franchise player. Not the route you would take if you weren't rebuilding...

I don't.... I think he can be PART of a title contender..... like how he currently is........

Dipo going to Miami became a self fulfilling prophecy because we were terribly unlucky with health.

ya he's PART, but embiid is the team, no embiid and that team is just a random 7/8 seed 1st round fodder, no thank you

So then what would you do with the remaining $30 million cap space you have without Embiid?

Be negative until the cap space goes away? What would the Rockets do with +$40 million in cap space with Simmons on the roster now?

nothing, there's not that many superstar players you can build around, and i don't think simmons increases the odds of getting one more than tanking does

Huh.... you wouldn't use the cap space. Weird flex but alright.

KPJ was on his way out of Cleveland - not if but when.

We can agree to disagree on rest of your post.

Yet Sixers are winning with Embiid out.

Morey smartly signed a shyte ton of shooters around both Simmons and Embiid in offseason.

That one little fix weaponized that team.

On the other hand Rockets 3ball shooting is abhorrent, Simmons would have been passing to brick layers.

If embiid played 0/82 games, what record would you expect philly to have? 41-41? Could they win 45?

Sure, but with Simmons, Wall, Gordon sitting in the guard spots, and the team winning at like 45ish% win rate, he may not have seen this as a potential destination, nor been seen as a potential acquisition.

What ifs are hard to argue on - but it seems to me that a lot of the rhetoric around simmons is based on what ifs.
It is so easy to be an expert in hindsight especially on hypotheticals that we can twist to suit our perspective and make seem better!!

Simmons would be a tradeable asset maybe packaged in a deal with several other okay players for a star. We got Harden that way -- I know Stone is no Morey but...

Sure, but every season simmons is on the team is a lost season, hard to bottom out with him like we need to. Again, the harden trade was a once in a lifetime mistake, relying on lightning to strike twice is foolish

Have you seen this team's 3P%?

Even Simmons cannot lift a team with such rancid shooting.

That would be the hope ya, but he could have made the difference with a few extra wins and that would be a disaster

Could we not trade for Simmons if the Sixers flame out again?
