I think we need to remember that maybe our best asset is Les Alexander. We have a pretty good owner. He wants to win as bad as anyone. He is not afraid to make moves. He is determined to get another championship. To a point he will spend money if it will deliver the results. 1. After lucking in on the first championship he made a gutsy move to get Clyde Drexler the next season. We don't repeat without that move. 2. Went after Barkley next, didn't get it done. 3. Went after Pippen, failed. He has allowed Rudy and CD to wheel and deal draft picks and has signed some ridiculous contracts to keep players. He has gone pretty far to get us another championship. I think the biggest moves this offseason will come from either Les pushing CD to do something, or from Les demanding some improvement. I think he is seeing the team a little different than when he said we had the most talent assembled in the league. The X-factor is Les Alexander. I don't think CD's job is any more secure than Van Gundy or Francis at this moment.
I think Les' attitude changed somewhere between signing Moochie's contract and Jim Jackson's. He was willing to sign big dollar long contracts to provide stability for Rudy to rebuild a contender. But, with so many of those pieces not panning out and with the introduction of the luxury tax system, I think those days are gone. He let Posey walk because the contract he wanted was too long. I expect we'll see a lot more hardball stuff like that coming. He probably is willing to pay for talent, but it'd have to be a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity now.
What is funny? Maybe you missunderstood olliez' tacit use of the word "ass". According to Merriam-Webster Also "asses" or donkeys are synonymous to hard work and dependability. What more can you ask for. Indeed Olliez is an unheralded aphorist.
Yao looks hansome in that suit except it is too long. In addition, I don't expect that much difference in Height.
The only knock you could have on Les (which only recently could be a criticism) is that he wouldn't ignore the salary cap. I would like to point out that the 3 teams in the NBA that literally throw money at players: Portland - they let go of Oneal voluntarily and now are purging their roster Dallas - no D, no Center, and they get worse every year New York - they dug their own grave and continue to dig Anyone wish we had one of these owners? It's nice to actually build a team and watch them develop... despite the emotional ups and downs.
