    To elaborate on rweinert's statement,

    1. Calvin Murphy didn't really play point guard
    2. Sam Cassell was only here for 3 years and was a backup most of the time.
    3. Kenny was decent for what he did, but but not great
    4. Sleepy was ok
    5. Francis is ranked too low; rather than rehash all of the boring "francis is not a true pg" debates, you should probably give the only guy to go to 2 all star games (I'm not counting this eyar because he didn't deserve it) some more credit than being 5.

    6. You forgot John Lucas, who should probably be #1.

Bet I could go deeper with the center rankings before I get to Yao and my rankings would be legit.

How is Yao related to this thread? Also, your signature clearly shows how narrow minded you are for me to further pursue this debate with you.

All-Star starters are voted on by the fans.

Than go by the fact that Steve has posted 15, 5, and 5 his entire career, and except for this year, has increased his averages every year, since he was a rookie. Two facts that only elite players / hall of famers have done.

Francis had an all star caliber first half of the season in 2003 and 2002. If you are arguing that somebody else should have gone, provide some proof of why he shouldn't have been on the team and why somebody else should have gone in his stead.

Did Shaq not deserve to go in 2002? He was voted by the fans. Same with Kobe and Tim Duncan. Were they not "true" all stars those years?

Hikanoo49, you also forgot Mark Jackson and Avery Johnson. Not to mention Matt Maloney, Eldridge Recasner, Bryce Drew, and Tierre Brown.

    no you couldn't.

i double dog defy you to name four centers better than yao.

    Hakeem, Moses, maybe Sampson.

Quit belittling Yao every chance you get, or every time someone unfairly criticizes Francis... because if you really were a fan of the team in general... then there'd be no need for such knee-jerk responses.

Elvin Hayes played Center at times too, I believe in his first few seasons he was primarly the center.

Bit unfair, maybe? Ralph was a pretty decent player before the injuries.

Kevin Willis played a little center for us too. And OT backed up Dream for years (he slid over from PF when Hakeem took a rest). :)

Anyone else get the feeling that this guy lost his gf or something to someone who looks like Yao? Damn, his first words to everyone he meets must be "I hate Yao"

yep, Kevin Willis had the three best years of his career in Houston. and Otis Thorpe is clearly a better center than Yao Ming. :p

look, i'm sure one time clyde drexler had to play PG too, but the point is: the Rockets do not have a history of great guards, whereas they have had two of the greatest centers of all time. my problem was Summer bringing Yao into the analysis in the first place.

Hey, relax on Steve. He's a really good pg and our go-to player. You're ragging on his situation and thats too bad, but we'll probably trade him. But he's still an awesome player. I'll be a fan of his on his next team. I'm sad things aren't working out to people's expectations but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
