They wanted a rebuild while still making the playoffs. This rebuild is going better and 2x times faster than OKC, Pistons, and Orlando.
He made some dumb moves to start, specifically the WB trade. He hasnt taken the Rockets back fully to the ketchup and mustard daysl uniforms. But he is not the worst owner. It is actually starting to look like a good thing the Rockets have this owner who is well connected in the business world (for example, runs the only certified 5 star hotel in Texas). The worst thing he has done the last 3 years was hire Silas and that has been rectified (but tanking was still the right idea).
he's clearly still the worst owner. the worst thing hes done was tear this franchise down in record time and the rockets are where they are because of him.
well that's what happens when your star player wants out because the team is now old with no future. the team getting old wasn't all Fertitta's fault as he inherited many of the players. so far looks like he made the right GM decision in picking Stone, who has had very good drafts so far. He has another to do well in, along with the best FA coach hire in Ime. It could really be a lot worse. You and others are hating on Feritta too hard but man was likely playing 5D chess with that Silas hire. I think folks are just upset they've had to endure 3 years of seeing the Rockets have the worst record in the league, but there is a reward for that in the players taken. This family wants to keep conquering so they will do their best for the hometown Rockets to bring championships. This Ime hire tells me this.
nah it doesn't. you acting like tilman has done nothing wrong is straight laughable. I've been laughing at him since he became owner with all his stupid moves and been right ever since. it could really be a lot worse? like being the worst team year after year. i mean it doesn't get much worse than that. He literally is the worst. folks celebrating Ime as if they won the title. that's how pathetically low the bar is now.
Hating Tilman is your thing, I get it but every single point you have made as to why he is the worst is wrong. They aren't the worst as they are trying to compete, they are the worst on purpose. They specifically built a system that would allow them to collect picks, losses and young stars. This has to happen, the worst thing Tilman could have done was continue to put out a mediocre product like Les did. The Rockets are now in a position to once again be great with a clean slate and young potential super star players alongside a good coach and valuable free agents. Sorry you can't understand what The Rockets did when Harden decided to destroy the franchise to ring chase....
Nobody should trust him until he proves he can: Hire (Udoka) and retain top talent (GM remains to be seen) Trust that talent to operate autonomously (did not do this with the Westbrook/Paul trade) Meaningfully upgrade our facilities (the practice facility is bottom tier in the league) Spend around the margins when it's time to compete and be willing to go over the luxury tax (this is still the biggest black mark against him during our contending years) He hasn't done anything other than hire Udoka that inspires confidence. You have to remember that Udoka had a black mark on his name after being fired by Boston and we're in a bad enough position that he would consider us. Pre-scandal Udoka never would've sniffed this team.
I guess you forgot about the Rockets seasons we've had since the NBA Finals built 2018 team....destroyed by FernTits and management.
Now Feritta pouring >$70M into a new practice facility. but he's a terrible owner for sure. He has two of the four on your list. Now it's to trust the coach to build up the talent.
