does this really do anything for chicago? i mean i'm sure it'll make them slightly better but are you going anywhere if you are paying lavine and vucevic?
I don't think so, but if they can also get Lonzo and add a good player in free agency they could turno out ok, i just don't see that core going anywhere though, in terms of being a contender, but i guess they could be fine with just making the playoffs going forward. As for the Magic i think this is a steal assuming those picks don't have great protections, Vuc isn't a guy that makes you win imo, getting two 1st rounders plus Carter (which imo has that Horford kind of potential) is just great, if they can also move Porter for something or resign him to a decent contract that would be amazing for them, but again, i think it's already an amazing trade for Orlando.
Not every team is playing for the championship unfortunately. This will get them where they want to be, the playoffs. They'll probably be happy with it for at least a few years.
It certainly means they're going to the playoffs. But it also means they don't have any more ambition than being a first round exit.
The Bulls have improved to a potential 2nd round exit team. It looks like they're ok with that. The Magic are about to blow it up and join the tank-offs for real.
Magic Rebuilding? rebuilding what? You have to actually build something before rebuilding it. This last "rebuild" post.....uhh....Dwight Howard leaving in 2012..... topped out at - 42-40 in 2019, seven years later? Good news, the demolition costs are just gonna be a 5 year old with a plastic bat. That's not much to take out.
It makes perfect sense for the Bulls. They have missed the playoffs three straight seasons, and all the top picks they’ve drafted (Carter, Markkanen and White) have not developed into very good or elite players. Vucevic is signed for three years counting this season, and the Bulls are trying to keep Zach LaVine, a free agent after next season, happy. The Bulls actually benched both Carter and White in recent weeks and started playing better.
Protections on those firsts? Thought Orlando would seek out a PG in the trade. They're down to Michael Carter-Williams and somebody named Chasson Randle. I guess they're confident in Fultz, or they're not done dealing.
They may end up back in the playoffs but this is the same crap from Chicago.... they will be good enough to make the playoffs but not win anything.
The thing is, that's what they're aiming for at this point. So I guess it's good enough for them. but hey at least they'll make the playoffs, unlike...... lol
