It's entirely possible that Tilman preferred Oladipo simply because he didn't recognize the name "Caris LeVert"

We need to trade wall also. His game just doesnt work well with a young team. He falls to the floor more than Allen Iverson did but he doesnt make the shot

What do you honestly think would have happened with that lineup? 10th in the West?

You've got a malcontent John Wall sitting on the sidelines, and a "no fun" EGo (probably injured) wanting to start. You've also got a coaching system that doesn't seem to see Wood playing in that 4 spot - most likely he would have been the 5, and Allen on the bench. You have a switch everything defensive philosophy (which is good) which probably prevents them playing together anyway. There is still the issue of Allen (if he played well) wanting a max contract at seasons end, and so being locked into a team with max John Wall and max Jarrett Allen (or letting him walk for free).

I dunno, I don't see that as a better option? And with that lineup, probably the best possible option would be drafting with Miami's pick (highly unlikely that, finishing 10th, we get a top 4 pick).

If we were going that route, you'd have a team with no superstar, no real path to getting one (ie, middling record every season, possibility of being in the hunt for the 8 seed, but not probable. No real money to spend due to maxxed out non-super stars (non-stars?) And 2 guys getting in the way in the 2 positions where you want to play players who have the best possible chance of actually becoming a star (ie KPJ and Wood).

It would be a disaster. Sure, having Caris LeVert may have been nice - but he isn't an expiring contract, and I could at least see the wisdom in the Rockets thinking they might be able to move EGordon before the deadline to open up max cap space in this off-season.

No, I didn’t expect that, but it wasn’t a 0% scenario when the trade happened.

Meh, it's smart to keep him on the bench during negotiations. A bad game or minor injury could kill a deal.

Anyone can see that his numbers were in decline after that year, I was hopeful that he could bounce back a little in Houston, but he got even worse. What does any of that have to do with my old post that he quoted, which was just saying despite Westbrook's scoring inefficiency, there are other aspects of moneyball, winning basketball, beyond efficiency. Westbrook was never efficient at scoring yet he had plenty of years of impactful winning basketball.

No you couldn’t. KPJ was traded after an outburst prompted by the Cavs giving his locker to Price, which only happened because Allen was traded.

Before we crown Caris Levert, who has had multiple significant injuries, let’s see what we get for Oladipo.

What happens if Victor Oladipo gets injured on the Last Game before the Tradw Deadline. No one would trade for him.

Eric Gordon got injured and no one wants to trade for him.

Caris Levert has 1 more year of high salary next year. Carus couldve gotten injured next year. Right before the trade deadline.

His injury risk seems higher, similar to Eric Gordon.

Jarrett Allen definitely leaves in the off-season.
If he was on the Rockets.

It wasn't even an injury this time. The guy literally had cancer but fortunately they found it early and took care of it. That trade may have actually saved his life. He's looking better and better each day though but he just doesn't fit our timeline.

Yeah I don’t get the LaVert crowning either.

People don’t realize that had Wood, Gordon, House and Wall stayed healthy during the stretch after the trade... and PJ Tucker and Boogie were playing like themselves... this could have easily been a team looking at ending up as a 6 to 8 seed.

Stone had the chance with Oladipo to get a player that at least helped test out how good the Wall/Wood and others team could be, and if not, he knew he’d have more value to flip as a rental at the deadline.

There were so many question marks about the team we had left over after the Harden trade that Stone had to at least give it a few weeks to see what he had and having Dipo there just in case we were actually good... was the right move to make.

If LaVert is the superstar in waiting you guys seem to bill him as, I don’t think the Nets are trading for James Harden or are sending out Kyrie instead of him to get Harden. He was shipped out for a pretty good reason.

Trading for Dipo was not what you guys think now that it was supposed to be. I think it was always about Stone testing out his new pieces to see if he had a team that was surprisingly really good, and if not, having the ability to make moves with afterwards.

Shockingly so. Charania is silent as well. There is nothing significant to report. CH44 and Codman are good insiders, but it's obvious that the situation will be fluid with Oladipo. Woj is talking about us being on the 2 yard line.
