I think they can Grow with Wood. We will always need a SOLID BENCH With more work (which I think they will do) I think they can start TATE is the most ready IMO In Three years I think WOOD - TATE and Brown will be starters and we will look to fill out the roster. Lock them into cheap contracts and they will always out play them Let them GROW TOGETHER!!1 Rocket River
i doubt brown will accept a cheap contract from us...he can just go to a contender? i thought tate was already locked in?
Tate is signed already. Brown is fine and I'd take him on a longer term deal but only for cheap (there are 8 million good guards in the league) and as for Nwaba...... nah.
Tate should be in our long term plans...otherwise we’ll have a ton of younger, higher upside draft picks coming in over the next few years to replace Nwaba and Brown. Honestly, by the time we are competing for the playoffs Wood’s contract will be up. It may be impossible to know what our core will be in 3 years.
I think Wood has the ability to be an AllStar player and this needs to be his team. We need to treat Wood like he’s the franchise. I think Tate is a upside version of Chuck Hayes. He’s really versatile, somewhat limited by his athleticism and height, but adds so much to the team. We’ve got him for 2 more years; let’s keep developing him. sterling Brown is a good player but he’s a free agent and if he can be part of a trade I think u move him. If we could resign him on a value deal I’m all for it but I think u move him while he’s hot. for me, the FA we need to invest in keeping is Nwaba. He’s the kind of guy you want in your locker room. He’s a vet but not too old. So versatile! if we continue to develop KJM and KPJ, add some good draft talent (hopefully another franchise guy) we will be set up great for the future...with a ton of future draft assets to keep building or ammo for trades
An Allstar cant turn the 20 straight loss team into a contender. If you wanna keep adding good draft talent (guys who are 19 and 20 yr olds) it doesnt make sense to keep a 25 yr old who wants to win around. By the time KPJ and co are 25 yrs old and ready to compete Wood would be Harden age.
I mean sure, lock anyone down if their contract is worth their value. If these guys wanna lock in at 900K, sign them all day. Team friendly deals are tradeable assets. No more Westbrook/Wall contracts.
They're nice players to have, but Wood is the only one I'd want to see starting in three years. If those three are 3/5 of the starting lineup in three years, something has gone terribly wrong.
