I keep hearing this kid is on the trading block. Would love to see him and KPJ form a tandem. What do y'all think about this trade potential.

I think he's constantly injured and hasn't made the progress I'd hoped to see out of him after his impressive rookie campaign. And supposedly he's looking to get paid 20+ million per year. There was a time I thought he could be the next Dirk, but he hasn't shown that yet. I have some pretty strong reservations about committing that kind of money to a guy like Markannen or Aaron Gordon right now. I feel like we need more talent and the flexibility to add a real star via free agency after we prove we can win some games. But if we add these 20 million dollar a year type guys (who haven't even inked their new 3 or 4 year deals yet), we certainly aren't going to have any flexibility to bring in a max player anytime soon.

"Lauri Markkanens" made me think this was a reference to a Key & Peele skit

I hear your point on the flexibility, considering how much Wall is getting paid.

I don't want to be the team that pays him, tbh. I'd rather get a rookie that still has 2-3 years on his deal so we can pivot and remain wide open for business.

Not a good defender and not a good enough offensive player to overlook his defense.

He isn't anything special at all.

Like some others have said, the potential seems to always be there, but it's been 4 years since being drafted and Markkanen hasn't taken a leap yet. Might be because he can't stay healthy.

With that said though, maybe all it takes for him, is a change of scenery.

I can see him being a Bosh/Love type of player, though. A solid third option who can flex into the second option, and on some nights, he just takes over. But even that is a high ceiling.

Stay away from Lauri. He hasn't made any improvement since his rookie season. In fact you can argue that he has regressed over the years.

imagine taking the time to looking up how many posts in how many years someone makes and thinking thats important. This is exactly why I rarely come here anymore. It used to be a great site.
