Vic’s value may be down, but it’s not out. He will either bring a first or a good young player, or he won’t get moved at all. This recent second round talk is nonsense.
The floor for him is going to be 2 2nd rounders and Stone takes expiring contracts back. That's a better play than to let him walk for nothing after the season's done. Olynyk, Harkless and 2 2nd Rounders from Miami for Vic accomplishes a few things: -Olynyk and Harkless are expiring contracts totaling just a bit north of $16 million combined -Fertitta would end up paying less for those two than what Vic is making this year ($21 million) -We get 2 2nd Rounders in return That trade would be the absolute floor I have for Oladipo.
Does not matter where he developed you said the Rockets did not have any recent examples of drafting for talent. Now you want to move the goalpost. And I am still waiting on what that has to do with the current staff.
I think he has improved immensely over the last few games. I don't think his play has tanked his trade value, it's his signability next year. He tanked his value by saying Miami or bust. 2 month rentals aren't going to get you much. I predict one crappy frp and filler. A good pick will mean we took back a bad contract.
Your post got me thinking. What if Stone traded Oladipo and Exum to Cleveland for Kevin Love and a couple of 1sts? That gets Cleveland out of that nightmarish contract, we get more picks and can try to move Love and/or Wall next season?
Knox and Detroit's second round pick via NYK is my floor (its also what I am expecting unfortunately).
Rob Perez hosted a new thing on Twitter that seemed like a live Podcast. He had Woj, Windy, and Bobby Marks as his guest speakers. They went a bit in-depth on Oladipo. Perez seemed excited about what Oladipo could net. He said he would trade Herro for Oladipo if he was Miami. Woj and Windy both said Oladipo is not netting anything close to that. Oladipo's market is basically "how cheap can I get him for." Woj and Windy went on to say that Oladipo's market value is similar to George Hill. Rob Perez couldn't believe it. He believes Oladipo is one of the few impact players on the market. Windy said only Lowry to Philly would move any needle.
How would we move love or wall? I love when y’all say this without no clear plan . Like it’s going to be a walk in the park
I'm kinda with this guy though. If the picks are nice enough I'd do it even if I couldn't move him. Cap space will be useless here for a while.
I have to imagine having Oladipo's Bird Rights are of (some) value to whatever he team he'd be joining. He's not going to command more on the open market as a free agent than he would resigning with his current team. I also don't see a way Miami signs him (as a free agent) this offseason... they'd be capped out and have to renounce a crap-load of free agents/restricted free agents to do it. Getting him in trade makes a whole lot more sense.
