I mean, why would someone want to play for this team right now? They’re on a 20 game losing streak! Unless they’re a reclamation project with something to prove, I don’t see why a player would want to be on the Rockets right now.
I wouldn't give up any picks in a deal with Atlanta either. The beauty of trading for trading for Okongwu and Reddish is that it doesn't prevent the Rockets from building through the draft. The downside is paying for a year of Dunn and taking on the contract of Bogdanovich. The Rockets may have to pay him for a year or two before moving him if they are so inclined. The other option is to try and deal Bogdanovich in a multi team deal with Diwiddie coming to Houston. Also something else to consider is that there is a real possibility that Tilman will not allow for a rebuild to last more than a season or two. At the end of the day I think it all comes down to what the Rockets think of Okongwu.
Marcus smart is available. Rockets should kick the tires. Always been a big fan of dude. Reminds me of Beverley but bigger and younger
Well that's what i would do, i liked both players for years, but as today, if i have to make a trade i'd trade for Collins without esitation. Getting Collins also keeps us protected in case Wood bolts or asks out in the future.
Tilman is an impatient person. I feel they only can tolerate this for one year, but will be impatient moving forward. With Patrick having a more prominent front office role, we will likely see short sighted moves in the near future.
Here is why I dont think gordon makes sense if he is not here long term. I think rockets win some games with him and Wood. Not alot mind you but just enough to take them out of top 4 pick. In that case you are giving up a potential top 4 pick for like the 18th pick in order to get him. I may be ok with him if he stayed long term but short term that makes no sense.
I'do that trade too @Nook Reddish has been underwhelming and Okongwu didn't play/show much so far, but if we can't get clean and solid assets for Dipo, i'd do that with no esitation, Bogdan here could put up some decent numbers and regain some value maybe, and at worse we should be able to use his salary in a trade in a couple of years.
Unless you can get young prospects in the (relative) cheap, you go hard after picks at this point. Do not need anyone over 25 in a trade bc what's the point. Would much rather have picks and cap flexibility.
I'd like to have some Veterans to teach these rookies how to be grown men, ESPECIALLY when you have a guy like KPJ. If you go NBA2k style and have all 17 year olds, it is going to be a dumpster fire here for a decade and teams with good cultures will swoop all of our assets for dirt cheap.
Poor d rock. He kept talking about Aaron Gordon having a 10ft wingspan. Turns out for the Rockets he only has a two second attention span.
From what I have been told, Patrick Fertitta is more long term oriented than his father Tilman Fertitta when it comes to the Rockets plans. Patrick is what some in the business call a "star ******", and falls in love with big names, but so far it hasn't been too big an issue. No one knows for sure how Patrick will turn out at this point, this situation is a lot like the situation in Denver. In Denver Stan Kroenke bought the team and then forced his son to be involved in all of the day to day operations of the team, forced him to be with the coach and GM, had him be a fly on the wall everywhere..... and then one day made him President and Governor of the Nuggets. A lot of people in basketball were very angry that Josh Kroenke became the de facto GM of the team. However an odd thing happened, Josh proved to have a high aptitude for basketball and an ability to surround himself with excellent basketball people. Josh knows as much about basketball as the head of basketball operations and the president of basketball operations. The Nuggets are now one of the very best ran teams in the league...... and that isn't because of Stan Kroenke, but because of his son. That is the best case scenario..........
Agreed. Given how badly this team shoots, and how bad Dunn is as a shooter, taking him on isn't my favorite... but I also kind of come around too Bogdan on that basis. Even if he's not quite an elite shooter, he's a good shooter that isn't ball dominant, so he may fit nice next to Porter. I do agree though - it comes down to views on Okongwu. I'm not even sure ATL would deal him, but I like taking the chance with him, plus a flier on Reddish to see if he can turn it around in a feature role. Now how do you get the Hawks to agree?!
Luckily for us, we can ask him ourselves. Do you think you're more or less long term oriented than your old man? @Salvy
He’s not available. It’s more like we realize they’d have to give him up in the right deal for like a Collins because he’s only under contract for 1 more year after this and are more open then ever doing so. They definitely are not actively shopping him or making him openly available
If this was Morey, would not sweat it. Morey had ice water in his veins and he would have no problem trading for players who didnt want to be in Houston. Dont know if Ra-fell has the same stones.
The NBA is turning into a pickup game - trade me to whatever the top 3 team in Conf is ... or so don’t want to go. Owners need to add a poison pill in contracts - if player demands trade - salary is cut 50% ... will end all this BS
We just need to watch what Sam Presti is doing and copy that. It takes discipline and it’s a long game, but I have no doubt that OKC will get back to the point where they are building around franchise players and back in relevance. I saw a lot of good young talent on that team yesterday and he’s hording picks. at some point he’s gonna hit on a couple guys in the draft and make a big deal for a star to bring it all together. If he focuses on developing talent and doesn’t go star chasing prematurely OKC will get back to contention. It’s gonna take patience though. I hope our owner has patience. The mediocrity treadmill is no fun.
The Hawks ownership has put tremendous pressure on the front office to win now... they have allowed a rebuild and now expect results to start happening, and that includes making the playoffs. The Hawks are going to need to pay Collins this summer and seem resigned to the fact it will be the maximum so they need to clear money off the books. However, the Hawks are also looking for a good defensive borderline all star type perimeter player to add to their team to help push towards the playoffs. So how can the Hawks add that type of player? They are running into a financial cluster and they also don't want to lose future draft picks. Trading Reddish and Okongwu helps them cover up their mistakes signing Bogdanovich and Dunn and it also insulates them from the lack or production by Reddish. As for Okongwu, he plays spots where the Hawks have better players. The Hawks drop 32 million off their commitments next year and can either sign Oladipo to an extension or have money sign Collins and add another player in free agency. The trade can be extended to include other salary like Rondo for additional assets, depending on what the Rockets and Hawks are willing to tolerate.
