The real problem with the Tucker situation and really ALL of our situations right now is that Stone and Ferntits fretted for months about the Harden trade and never really planned for the rest of the team after that dragged. The Nets trade I was sure of in November was Allen, Dinwiddie, Prince, Levert, and the picks. Dinwiddie getting hurt and Ferntits salary dumping demands made it go down the way it did. To stupidly not do the direct aftermath analysis and realize you are not building ANY future with Tucker, EGo, Wall, and Cousins is beyond stupid. Cousins was a vet min that didn't matter but you knew EGo and Tucker were gone and then getting Dipo and not having an immediate follow up plan is still incredulous. Truth is Tucker AND EGo should have been used as further leverage in Harden trade to be able to take back all of the talent and picks we could get to align our assets. Its just something you do. The thing was already 4 teams and was not hard to daisy chain into others immediately after to get what was truly valuable. Instead we all got the magic 6 game win streak BS with a treadmill team that has been revealed to be a tanking team.
Ya know, I would have thought that sneaking in DMo as an "absolute legend" next to players like Hakeem and the rest would have been the controversial statement, not pointing out that a 3 and D player who played no D and was hitting 20% of his 3's when it mattered most was terrible...or that the guy who is currently the 4th worst overall and absolute worst offensive player in the entire league according to TPA is terrible. CF never ceases to amaze.
Thanks PJ for everything. Gave hope for all the "vertically challenged" Centers out there. Wish things worked out differently. Hope everything works out wherever you go!
Totally agree op, love PJ and i wish him the best, he's right there next to Shane as one of my favourites.
I appreciate PJ for bangin with the bigs when we were doing our dumbass smoll boll lineup which our FO is still in love with apparently. PJ Tucken aka the Lebron Stopper, will forever be ingrained in my memory for playing 40mpg because D'antoni doesn't rest players properly. Some nights I'd think, is this the night Tucker gonna die out on the floor because he's playing so many minutes at his age.
Asking him to guard opposing centers regularly was insane. Went above and beyond the call of duty. Not sure if he has anything left in the tank, but hope it works out for him in Milwaukee.
I’ve been a P.J. Tucker fan since his time as a Longhorn, as I was a student at the university when he signed to play for Rick Barnes. His lunchpail mentality, willingness to do the little things it took to win a game, work ethic to become an elite college player despite being a three-star recruit and determination to make it to the NBA after years overseas will always resonate with me. At his peak with the Rockets, he was one of those guys where stats don’t fully measure his impact towards winning, and he was the type of role player that elite players love to play with. I wish his time with the Rockets would have ended better, but I will always enjoy watching him compete.
