Let's be clear.... the GOP held control of the government for two years, got their tax reform approved, then peed and went to bed. The cynic in me believes me this issue is too important to conservatives to actually solve.
That's such a bad faith loaded question. The Biden admin is not subject to immunity from scrutiny on their immigration policy, but we do need to live in a world of reality where with only a few weeks in office taking over after 4 years of whatever the Trump administration was, and the Biden admin has to choose an initial path forward that both TRIES to have a secure border, AND also does not jeopardize our morals and values. Trumpers paint this picture and institute this stupid straw man where the only solution is cruelty, and suffering. I see no reason to penalize the Biden administration for dare TRYING to give a F about being moral, and treating people with dignity by not separating children from their parents for the foreseeable future cause trauma for the rest of their lives. I'm sorry but the administration that is at least TRYING to be humane and present Christian values at the border deserves a little bit of time to try and figure it out before its an end of the world crisis that dooms the Democrats chances of ever being a viable political party in America again.
Do you know how enforcement works? This is like saying 10 Muslims blew hp the WTC so now we need to detain all 5 million Muslims. Please, I pray to God you are trolling. You go by context. It's case by case. You don't automatically removed children from their parents because one percent of kids that come up are trafficked. How dumb are you? Seriously you have to be ****ing dumb or you are trolling.
wtf are you smoking? what open border policy. quit believing all that bullshit theres no open borders
This is the same type of thinking that goes to we've found 16 cases of voter fraud so therefore we need to change voting laws affecting millions. Also if these cases of trafficking were found while Trump was President doesn't that mean that Trump's policies weren't working and it would be a mistake for Biden to continue those policies?
McCarthy and 12 other Republican members of the House visited the border a few days ago. McCarthy describes the situation as "human heartbreak". This group blamed the Biden admin for the problem, claiming "the cartels know when to exploit this souther border... they're doing it because President Biden rolled back a lot of the orders of the previous administration". Title 42 (closed border due to covid) remains in place, so the border is essentially still closed for asylum seeker except for unaccompanied minors (an exception the Biden admin made). The number is large, but not as large as some of the peaks during Trump's time. This "human heartbreak" has been on-going for years. Closing the border to every single asylum seeker, including minor, as the Trump admin did, didn't solve the "human heartbreak" but simply pushed the problem downstream to Mexico and elsewhere. These kids, left to these countries, faced much more dangers. But if Republican now truly are concern and their heart is broken, let's actually do something about it... One big assumption on both sides is that ‘we can’t afford to let everyone in’. How many are we talking about? We have let in hundreds of thousands during humanitarian crisis in the past and have allowed ~50k in per year over the last 40 years. We can afford to let a certain number in and probably much more. I have zero doubt that we can afford to let in 7400. The immediate issue isn’t 7400 itself but that we don’t have the man power and system to process fast enough. That's not caused by the current Admin but is mostly on the current Admin to solve. The longer-term on-going issue is not something the admin can solve on their own.
McCarthy et al. are suddenly discovering that children were being held in bad conditions on the US Southern border. Where were they the last two years?
It's amazing how stupid and callous @HTM can be. I wish he was trolling. He literally can't grasp the concept of the difference between coming with your parents or guardian as s minor and crossing by yourself as a minor.
Well that is the question isn't it? How many COVID deaths are too many? Is 500,000 too many? Is 500? How many car accident fatalities are too many? How wide spread is the problem? I don't really have an answer as I am not there inside the facilities and do not know how genuine the efforts are and are not, and I do not know what the real expenditures are.
Let’s forget about what is true or not for a second and imagine that things were just the way we wanted them to be...
Facebook talking points again? Anyways no one should be crossing the border illegally...every single person and child needs to be sent back until we have a proper plan to deal with the border situation. I do not have the slightly clue why this administration is allowing them to come through in the middle of a pandemic...
