I agree. Goldeneye is the only decent Brosnan Bond flick. I really wish they'd go back to a less formulaic, character-driven style like From Russia With Love or On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Now those were classic Bond films.

Or if EON insists on doing the over-the-top villains, pay off Kevin McClory and bring back Blofeld and SPECTRE.

The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen, or similar...

Yeah, she definitely had a nice bod, upper in particular, and I never averted my eyes when, as frequently happened, she took her top off.

But she was never all that amazing, although she was frequently portrayed as such in her films.

What makes you think Tarantino would mess with the formula? He's made an entire career out of paying homage to film formulas and conventions. If anything, the movie would be ABOUT the formula.

Agreed. Bond is not politically correct. Having all these women sidekicks goes against everything Bond is about.

Kind of my point. No need to get in bed with someone who is going to want a large degree of creative control when you can get a nobody and make big hits.

So why risk the franchise on someone who, if he plays to his fanbase, is completely out of line for a Bond film?

And my argument was against the idea that everyone in Hollywood wants a piece of QT and his movie would be a bigger hit than a regular Bond picture. The Bond pictures do well without a name director and QT has had only one true hit film in his career and that was 10 years ago. I don't think everyone in Hollywood is as hot to jump into bed with the guy as people might think.

And there's no reason to believe a QT Bond flick would be a bigger hit than a regular Bond flick.

Well, I'm gonna have to continue to disagree with you. Thunderball was so-so, TSWLM was crappy. TMWTGG was ... so-so. AVTAK was ... so-so...

I've watched the series a bazillion times and am comfortable with the ones I like and why I like them. I didn't think the Dalton Bond's were that bad.

Connery was good in all Bonds except NSNA.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to create a new thread about all things Bond? (it might even have to live in D&D)

Licence To Kill is one of the most underrated films in the series. Dalton gets a really bad rap because his movies weren't as big as Brosnan's, plus there was a 6-year layoff after Licence To Kill which wasn't his fault. It's a shame he didn't get to do at least a couple more films.

Droxford: I agree with most of your part. Except the Thunderball point. I really grade Thunderball as one of the better bonds and I am a connaisseur too.

    Hail Honey Rider !

I'm not even sure the Broccolis can control it, if it's supposed to be another remake of Casino Royale. I have a vague recollection of a dispute between two entities which owned rights in the various Bond films, with one group owning all except Thunderball (and perhaps Casino Royale), such that remakes or derivative works could be made of those others without the Broccoli control. (I think that's how NSNA came to be).

The Brocollis have, in recent years, acquired the rights to Casino Royale, the novel. They did not have the rights for many, many years.

Even the split rights to Thunderball (which was a different case. A guy claimed co-authorship of the book and some of the characters and organizations within. He got a court victory that allowed him to make a very limited Bond film which amounted to a remake of Thunderball, that remake was Never Say Never Again. The Brocollis have gained control of that remake now, though) have apparently been resolved.

Bond is firmly in the hands of the Brocolli family at this point.

Uma Thurman is hot but not as a typical poster girl more like you actually sense that she is a quite intelligent woman who happens to have a killer body. I would definitely date her!! Hey stranger things have happened ( I think“)

Just like Led Zeppelin. Of course, they improve upon the original to such a degree as to make the point almost moot.

Even Blofeld and SPECTRE? If so, bring them back, please!

And before any of you claim Blofeld died in the opening teaser of For Your Eyes Only, they could easily explain that away by saying it was a double(just like in the beginning of Diamonds Are Forever).
