I once looked into starting an internet p*rn business. I soon concluded that it was a saturated market.
A friend of mine made millions with it within a very short time frame, but I consider what he did borderline fraudulent.
Intentional or unintentional pun? And, if you're not too picky, a girl I lived with for a brief period ( just lived with, she was nice enough to let me stay for free; no strings) ran her own escort service. She made unbelievably money, and didn't work all that hard.
Either a vintage guitar store or a recording studio that would be located on a ranch waaay out of town.
A realistic answer, though, if ever I went into business, which is highly unlikely, I'd either want to make films, have a roving archeological crew, or a combination coffee shop/bakery/maybe wine bar and used book store.
A niche video store that carried tons of indie, cult, horror, foreign, etc. movies you just can't find at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. Of course I'd have to carry mainstream new releases as well, but it would really cater to film geeks. Since this is a dying breed and not really profitable, I'd offer other services like VHS/film to DVD transfer, Vinyl to CD transfer, etc. It would also be cool if there were maybe a way to have connected pub with good beer that could also host weekly or month screenings with trivia and the like. I've never given it much thought. If someone wants to be my sugar daddy and finance something for me, I'll come up with a successful formula, though.
It was pretty simple, he operated a business where they used these dialers...people would click on some p*rn banners, click ok a few times, their internet connection would get switched, whoops, 20 dollars on their phone bill after 1 min....most would be too embarrassed to contest it. The whole thing was set up so that my friend could not easily be tracked as the one legally behind this. The telecom authorities finally pulled the plug at some point, but he made a lot of money, because he managed to direct a lot of traffic to his dialer entry pages.
