i'm hearing his days might be numbered in boston. granted, i'm alone in my apartment, so i'm not sure who's saying that.
It is about time he felt some heat I truly expected SO MUCH MORE from them he was suppose to be the NEW POP!!! Rocket River
Great x&o coach. Though doesn't seem like he demands respect from his players. Players treat him as equal or below them. That Marcus Smart tantrum was quite telling.
Even though the Celtics have young players... this group is starting to get stale. They need to do something to shake it up. They have that massive trade exception which they plan to use to add someone else. They would do well to have a veteran all star, Jimmy Butler would have been perfect. They are getting 70 points a game between 3 players but are still only a .500% team right now. Something is off.... either the roster doesn't fit with what Stevens wants to do, or they have a lack of motivation. This is the 4-5th year that Tatum, Brown, Smart and Stevens have been together..... the shelf life for a team that isn't winning titles isn't very long at all. I expect one or more of them to want to move on if there isn't a substantive change made by the start of next year. Walker doesn't really fit.... I am not even a big fan of the size and role Smart has either..... they obviously have talent, but no one to really take over.
How much of that is Stevens. Ainge getting a bit of a pass. Rozier gone. Hayward gone. Courted AD, but a miss. Kyrie rental was a bust. Kemba, while likable, isn't panning out. Ainge took some understandable risks but didn't payoff. He should have offered Jaylen for Harden.
Kemba is the most shocking to me In charlotte people compared him to Harden Seems like the coach is not making up for the personality mix Maybe everyone is too passive except the least talent person Floppus Smart Rocket River
Some of that I think is Kemba getting bit by the injury bug. In and out of lineup. On paper he looks alright, 30 mpg, 18-20 pts per game, at near 50% efg, really good FT shooter, respectable 3pt% But he's streaky, while serviceable isn't a #1 option. When Kemba first joined, people wondered if it could be between Kemba and Tatum, it'd be a 1a and 1b type of situation. Now, it's clear, Celtics is Tatum's team with Jaylen Brown as a solid #2. I dislike Floppus Smart as well. Celtics fans love him over there, want him to be a lifer. Agree with Nook that team is stuck in a rut. They're a good (but not great) team. Some of that could be on Brad's shoulder. One possible example could be lack of rim penetration. Think Celtics is one of the bottom teams in attempts. Brown and Tatum is at times criticized for going to their bag too often; fancy moves, fancy dribbles, fancy shots, 'pretty' basketball, as opposed to 'efficient' basketball. Not saying that is what Stevens should do. But it is a critique. Driving to the rim could result you like the j*zz this season (really good regular season record), or like the Rockets (where you still lose). Either Stevens just don't value it as much or he's uncomfortable telling his guys to adjust. IMO, he's still a good coach, maybe not the 2nd of coming NBA Jesus coach, but still good. It's one of those things where the media gives someone a label that they didn't ask for. Brad Steven's isn't Lavar Ball out there with the self promotion.
absolutely not. eastern conference finals 3 of last 4 years i think. he is a great coach and a great man who is beloved by his players.
