Well I'm certainly not a Holocaust denier, I just had no firsthand knowledge of why Jews were looked down on. I went to a large public school and the bigotry I saw was against black and Hispanic students. I understand all levels of senseless hatred; the Jewish hatred was always the most puzzling to me. I'm not trying to defend Meyers Leonard either; seems like an idiot and I don't care if he gets cut. I understand the unfair correlation in the 21st century of "some Arabs attacked the World Trade Center, so all of them are evil" versus Jews, who I've only known in history as being victims of persecution and genocide. If Leonard grew up in an area with very low Jewish citizenry, I can see why he would go there, because he's more knowledgeable about the pain other slurs cause groups that he's more familiar with.

None of it justifies using any racial slur to begin with, but I think it's possibly a situation where he can learn and correct his behavior rather than being dismissed as irredeemable. Just my two cents and again, I don't really care if he loses his job. He's made plenty of money and if he wasted it that's on him as well.

Out for the season so he doesn’t miss any pay.

The suspension does not include loss of pay for games missed because Leonard is currently injured, sources confirmed to ESPN's Bobby Marks. He appeared in only three games for the Heat this year and was diagnosed with a season-ending shoulder injury in January. He will still be compensated for the five games the Heat play during his suspension. If he had been healthy, Leonard would have faced forfeiting $324,000.

Didn't take me long to google this:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_antisemitism

Multi-thousand year old tradition from Palestine and then Europe, and in the AD you can basically blame the Catholic and then Orthodox Churches, then the Protestants too. Oh, and the Muslims of course.

Thank you. Just demonstrating that without more research, it's easy not to be familiar with anti-semitic origins. I mean f**k Meyers Leonard but I can believe ignorance instead of malice. I think Adam Silver's response was fair.
