gary payton has had his ass handed to him in these playoffs. 8.4 ppg against us i think, with plenty of bad shooting, and now these two horrific games combined with the fact that francis and parker have owned him on the offensive end too. amazingly bad performances.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/baske...715.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-nba-lakers Spur forward Robert Horry, who has played alongside Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O'Neal, said Olajuwon was the best of the three. "Each guy's great in a different way," Horry said. "Out of all three, I still have to stick with Dream because he had so much game. He could shoot it from the outside like Tim, he could power inside like Shaq. Besides, his free throws were a little bit better." Did he have different answers every time he's asked the same question?
wow, 2 down 2 to go. the spurs are a better team. period. my wish is about to come true - ringless kalar or kalar dirtest malone got what he deserves. the commetator at last night game was saying that the spurs approached kalar last offseason but no, noooo, kalar wanted to go to the fakers thought he'd get a ring... that crack me up.
Yeah, Horry sticks with Dream. Even Mario Elie when he was retired and asked who was better between Duncan and Dream says Hakeem easily.
agreed. I thought the Lakers might win this series initially, but they'll be lucky to win 1 game. The Spurs are too tough. Poor Malone.
Let us pray. If he can't win with Kobe, Shaq and Payton, where else would he go? What other serious contender has a hole at the 4 to fill? I don't really think he'd want to get a ring for sitting on the bench.
This series is like a gift from God. I'm sticking to Spurs in 5. No sweep. The refs won't allow that any more than they'll allow Shaq to foul out of a game. They take one in LA. Evan
Options for Malone: Stick around with Shaq (assuming Kobe leaves) since they're friends. Retire Go to NO and play at home (PJ Brown off the bench?) before retiring That's about it. I can't see him playing for anyone else in the West, and I don't see any reason for him to want to play in the East. Evan
Did anybody else notice how Payton tried to 'take over' in the close of Q2 - and the result was that he deflated a legitimate Lakers run to close the gap b4 the half? (1:29) [LAL] Payton Layup Shot: Missed Block: Nesterovic (1 BLK) (1:26) [SAN] Parker Rebound (Off:0 Def:1) (1:22) [SAN 59-43] Ginobili Alley Oop Layup: Made (8 PTS) Assist: Parker (2 AST (1:05) [LAL] Payton Turnover: Bad Pass (1 TO) Steal: Nesterovic (1 ST) (1:01) [SAN 61-43] Ginobili Layup Shot: Made (10 PTS) Assist: Parker (3 AST) Lakers calling card on the road has been closing the gap. That sequence was critical in the game. Payton was burned bad. He was going at Parker on both plays and notice who made the assists on the other end to Ginobili - Parker!!! Payton is stuck in a mindset where he's set on proving he can still ball - and what's weird is that it's like his opponent is not just the Spurs - but Lakers coaches and players also! Phil Jackson has already called him out ("Gary's got to get on the same page as us, we don't have to get on the same page as him") - but can't pull him 'cause Fisher's even weaker for some reason - so it's going to be up to the one of the Lackers players to set him right or they're going to have to pray that he comes to his senses - or they're going to be done in 4 or 5.
Wake him up and get him off the canvas .... after the crowd is gone and the Spurs are in the next round.
how can people say shaq is "still the most dominating player in the game" when it comes down to it, the dude can't hit free throws, he is not even an option for offense at the end of games. he is 18-64 in seven playoff games this postseason
